New Everton Stadium - Hill Dickinson Stadium

What's your take on the stadium, so far? I'd like to hear it.

From my own limited experience of it - plus reading and hearing the thoughts of others - it feels like an event facility rather than a PL home ground...and not just because of its newness. Everything suggests 'general' rather than 'Everton'. The stadium exterior I still believe has a lot going for it and, of course, the location is an asset, but the interior is a bland sterile space with little to get excited about apart from the sheerness of the blue wall.

Oh, and the level of control around the stadium is hugely off-putting.
You were raving about the stadium after your first visit, Dave...

Yes, the exterior and the immediate wow factor of looking at a 50k+ Everton crowd again. That'll continue to be the case for this first few months of this season.

But things settle down and then you take stock, and you can gradually get a feel for the tone.

I think in accounts the commercial income is all in isn't it?

If it is, the numbers you have quoted are definitely incorrect. We know the hospitality/premium seating alone is worth around an extra 12m. That would put it to your estimates alone. That's before you put in the 6 million for HD, Pepsi, Budweiser, Aramark and increased Castore deals. Then you add in the 12k extra seats and healthy % increase across the board for tickets.

So what are you saying we'll be generating commercial income-wise each season?

It's going to depend on how many England vs Aus rugby league fixtures are held. What gets booked out for concerts next summer. It's only been officially open for 6 weeks. There's a long and cruel winter to struggle through yet. Cup runs, international matches, business expo's, there's a lot to see before making sweeping financial projections.

Everything I listed is a year on year basis.

As @Rita_Poon says that could be expanded upon by concerts, events using the plaza, conferences and other income generated by restaurants, tours, weddings etc. That is a little less fixed though and we have to bear in mind there will be higher operational costs too which will take from some of that.

We're getting less with the new stadium than we were pulling in with sponsorship deals from Uzmanov.

We need a massive buy out of the club from an oil state to get us back in business again. That's the reality of it. The revenue gained by commercial deals signed with this stadium will be going back to paying off debt for this stadium.

I don’t know if this will be news to anyone else - but it was news to me on the tour today…

Apparently we have leased Nelson Dock until after the Euros, from which point we’re currently in negotiations to purchase the land.

I knew we wanted Nelson Dock, and I knew we were using it as a car park, but I didn’t know about the lease term.
