New Everton Stadium - Hill Dickinson Stadium

For me, this and the south-west corner view of the stadium make for its most dramatic angles.

No matter what time of day and what sort of weather conditions it looks fantastic and provides us with a unique statement. It's the futuristic look the stadium could have done with having more of.

Surprised they don't show the lounges etc. to encourage people to buy hospitality ?

Not sure why really. Maybe too expensive or sold out. I think one of the tour hosts said there were 18 boxes but I may have misheard that

The tours will be designed to show general tourists about not just Evertonians. Probably the majority of those taking the tour of the stadium after the novelty has worn off with Evertonians looking to take the tour will be out of towners who will never ever again visit the stadium (maybe only as a visiting fan, perhaps).

In that context it doesn't make too much sense asking a couple of tour guides to flog Everton lounge subscriptions.

I thought it was supposed to be 20-22 boxes. Either way, it seems a very low number for a new 52k+ stadium. Especially as we're supposed to be maximising income.
What's your take on the stadium, so far? I'd like to hear it.

From my own limited experience of it - plus reading and hearing the thoughts of others - it feels like an event facility rather than a PL home ground...and not just because of its newness. Everything suggests 'general' rather than 'Everton'. The stadium exterior I still believe has a lot going for it and, of course, the location is an asset, but the interior is a bland sterile space with little to get excited about apart from the sheerness of the blue wall.

Oh, and the level of control around the stadium is hugely off-putting.

Just saw a short video on YouTube channel The Padded Seat showing a hospitality visit they did to Hill Dickinson Stadium. Shows what you can get for your £1000 depending on the fixture.

Sandwiched between an expanse of water and a main road, safety was always going to be paramount. As for it being an event space, so be it, every extra cent it earns lines the pockets of the city and the club. Do you like having good players turning out on Everton's behalf? Because there is a cost attached to that desire. When it's hosting Swift and Sheeran and eventually a boxing or ufc event then it'll be different again. Rugby international in a couple of months, it'll be good to hear comms effuse about the new ground and the size of the crowd.

The revenue brought in from the stadium isn't going to blast us into the PL elite. Last I read the club commercial income will rise from about £26M per season to £35M-£40M per season. That's mid-PL type of commercial income territory.

This would need close scrutiny than 'last I read'.

Every game there has been more 'Evertonisation'. It's something I feel shouldn't really be judged until next season. Rightly or wrongly (given we got handed it 8 months earlier) the club were working right to the very end getting the basics ready for the opening. Let's see what it looks like in a few months and if it keeps on being addressed we'll know it's an ongoing thing.
