Finished 6th last year in the league , 4th the year before. Should have arguably got through against PSG in that second leg champions league quarter final this year. Favourites for the Europa League.

Yeah they’ve had a bad window but they’re a good side still.

Let’s not get ahead of ourselves just yet. We’re a point up from the same fixture last year. Let’s take the small positives.
Villa fans saying that they were lucky to come away with a point.

They liked that there was plenty of room at the HDS and got to go to a new ground.

They are not keen on a move from Villa Park themselves saying their ground isn't as old as Goodison was.

My main gripe (apart from the ref and Villa clearly playing for a draw) was both their full backs on a yellow, we immediately stopped running at them. I would've liked to have seen Dibling and Alcaraz on and running at Digne. Frustrating how many players refuse to shoot too and yet Gueye won't stop haha.

Though it was a decent game of football with both sides cancelling each other out.
Villa defended well , but we didn’t create enough clear chances.
The few chances we did create Martinez save well.
There were a few occasions when we could have been a little sharper in attack , and players hesitated a bit too long on the ball .
But overall no complaints.
This is a fair take, what I'll add is that the interplay between the front 3 or 4 is still coming together; I think there's some real excitement about the way they are trying to play up front in terms of creating space and chances.

When it clicks; it will be so exciting to watch.

The one quality he's literally never had, but seems to want to score a worldie or two every game.

All of his shots have this "eh, might as well try it" feel to them

Grealish has been a fabulous addition to the squad so far. But I thought there was a bit too much of 'pass it to Grealish' going on during the match when there might have been better chances for others to attack (or shoot) through the middle.

Well now I am home and a bit calmer, we should have easily won that. Martinez made at least 2 world class saves - and Beto, well less said the better.

I am loving the football, we really look like we are trying to win, unlike when we were trying not to lose.

Grealish & Ndiaye are so very special and - gulp - Keane looks like a centre back.

Another fabulous game at HD, slightly diminished by travel chaos.

Defo should have won... I thought we played well considering we had a CM at LB.

I think this game may be a blueprint of a few games we will have this season, for me we were a decent striker short of being in the European spots fight.

But lets see what happens, I think a good season will be top half.

Saw quite a few posts about Beto missing at sitter near the start of the game, but only chance they showed on the highlights I saw was the header which Martinez saved. Was there another effort they skipped over, or was this what ppl were having a go at him for?

Yes, in the second minute he kicked the ball onto his other foot after a cross from Ndiaye. (It's on the full highlights if you have them.)
