I see Thierry Small is over at Preston now too...Armstrong could line up alongside.

PNE are the only Lancashire team ( of their size ) not to have climbed to the PL . I think Moyes got them to the play offs in the 1990's. Bolton , Blackpool ,Blackburn ,Wigan and Oldham have all been there but never seems to happen for Preston .

He started and was captain the other day with the keeper benched.

Today he was a sub and the keeper started

Oh yes, I completely forgot Dobbin, and didn't know Gibson had gone there though. I've a PNE fan & friend, they are very excited about the new season/signings.

Yeah when he came on he was given the captain's armband - passed it to him even though the lad starting as captain stayed on.

Shows he's the proper captain of that side now which has impressive indeed.

The penalty Spain were awarded looked a bit iffy, you could see Armstrong making his point to the referee as Captain , not successfully but good experience for him and a measure his temperament has improved . Last season he was a bit more rash and prone to a yellow card or two.

James Wallace, formerly of this parish, is the sporting director there now I think?

Would expect he's leant on his Everton links a little bit for recommendations etc which is how Lewis Gibson, Thierry Small and Dobbin have all ended up there at the same time and now Armstrong too.
