New Everton Stadium - Hill Dickinson Stadium

But that’s still contextual.

We all have our own classification of who qualifies as the greatest players we’ve known and loved.

I take your point that in the long, proud history of Everton FC, Duncan Ferguson wouldn’t be anywhere near the all-time first 11. I happen to think his legend is bigger than the reality also, for what it’s worth.

I also take the point I think @Eggs is making that it’s a shame that fans who idolised Dunc didn’t have someone more successful (or better) to idolise.

But people do idolise him - and I think that deserves, if not agreement, then at least acceptance that they are entitled to think like that.
Absolutely.

People love who they love. I have no argument at all with that.

Duncan, for all his faults, gave me some indelible moments - and I was a teen of the 80s. The towering derby header on his debut, the towering shirt-twirling header that made idiots of Bruce, Pallister, and Schmeichel, the sight of him lining up to come on as a sub and intimidate United in the cup final, the towering header that basically put us into the Champions League (play offs)...

He was a definitely a "legend" in the truest sense of that word - where stories of his exploits were legion. Unfortunately, many of those stories were of off-field stuff or dubious on-field belligerence.

A great player? No. But he really should have been. A force of nature, but missing that most underrated success factor: a brain.

Yeah it was a great view but was a little bit too high. It was difficult to make out the shirt numbers. About 10 rows lower would be better. Terrifying walking down them stairs too btw.
Don't think I would like all those steps either, I'm Lower West, not many steps at all & similar to my view at GP.

I was right up in the top row in the East stand for the Roma game.
Me calf's are still struggling.

When you are that high up make sure you "drain the snake" before kick off and don't break the seal during the game

THEIR Stadium.

It has their name on it after all.
How is it 'THEIR' stadium when all they do is hand £6M p.a. over to the club and the fans are paying for the whole stadium plus a surplus on top of that of multiples over the lifetime of the stadium?

Everything about Everton belongs to the fans...its stadium included. When these no marks have had their contract no one will remember them ever again. But Everton FC's owners have handed them the whole of the stadium for the first decade of its existence and thereby settling the stadium's identity without putting up any fight whatsoever to underline the identity of our football club.

It's a disgrace that's only been put up with (for now) by the shock and awe of the opening few games that have wowed fans...that wont last.
