Summer Transfer Window 2025 Thread

Absolute nonsense.

We would’ve finished in Europe last season if the season started when Moyes arrived so why would having JOB still at RB now suddenly cost us multiple league places when we have a far superior attack? JOB defends better than most modern right backs and our attack doesn’t need nearly as much support as last season allowing us to play more defensive full backs.

What we don’t have is depth.
All of this. Look how we’re starting now under Moyes. Night and day. I would only argue that we do have decent depth everywhere except the backs, and even then just the right. I consider Ndiaye and KDH interchangeable as strikers. If Dibling turns out to be who they think he is, I’d slide those guys to the middle.

Care to expand on your reasoning mate?

Not meaning that in a contentious way, just genuinely interested in how you reach the conclusion.
During AFCON, our central midfield: -

Garner
KDH
Iroegbunam
Armstrong

4 players for 2/3 positions

Right backs: -

O'Brien
Patterson
Coleman

3 players for 1 position

Which would you suggest is the weaker area whilst Gana is away? being honest..

We had Armstrong who looks a decent player. If it was a choice, I’d have kept him and brought in a right back, which will be a thorn in our side this season.

Would like to think Rohl is a lot better than Armstrong. He’s further on in development. Armstrong played ok against Mansfield but could he really cut it yet in the PL week after week.

This isn't a guarantee and it's a bit annoying that people keep throwing it out there. There were 20 games last season which Moyes wasn't in charge for. That's a lot of games where things could have gone wrong with that squad at the time. Moyes did fantastically when he came in and he's doing a great job again this season thus far but it's tricky to say we would have done that. Moyes record points total in the league is 65 and that's what the last European spot would have required. Sometimes momentum just swings in your way for a period.

Given our injury history with Branthwaite, Coleman, Patterson, and O’Brien (and Tarks looking a bit off color at the start of the season) - honestly it is right back.

Without the injury history however I would agree on CM.
