Summer Transfer Window 2025 Thread

young was first choice rb when we couldn't buy a win. You can say our defence was slightly worse with o'brien but we actually picked up points. You condescending whopper
Wow, "condescending whopper". Ouch. I'll cry myself to sleep tonight.

If you look at my recent posts you will see that I acknowledged that we picked up more points with JOB at RB. Correlation does not equal causation, however. Likewise, JOB being part of a slightly worse defence doesn't automatically mean he was a worse RB than Young. Once again though I'll state that an actual RB, not a converted winger like Young or an out of position CB, is my actual preference for our RB slot. Apparently this has annoyed you a great deal for some reason.

In my Saturday team we always said you can tell the oppo are a strong team when they have really good fullbacks. This isn’t because fullback is an important position. It’s because it’s the least important and if a team has enough talent elsewhere that it has good players playing at fullback then it must be a good team. Every fullback starts off as a winger or centre half or centre mid and get pushed to full back because they aren’t good enough to play in a more important position.
You're wrong. They're incredibly important not just individually but for being able to tactically shape the team set up. The teams over the past decade that have dominated have done so because tactically their fullbacks allowed them to employ certain styles of football.

I don't believe going into the season with JOB as an option for RB is the most sensible due to what we are trying to ask of him in an attacking sense. He's not very good at it in my opinion. Defensively he's solid enough and it helps our shape but you can see sometimes he's also clunky and awkward in that. He's done a good job thus far but it needs upgrading because quite clearly Coleman is off next summer and Patterson isn't good enough. As I said, both have had terrible injury records too so it potentially doesn't take much for us to have a defensive crisis.

I don't think we can change everything in one window but we ultimately had the potential to do so. If Tete signed then we more or less have aside from a 3rd striker and a proper DM.

Give each other a hug, and make up.
