Summer Transfer Window 2025 Thread

it is strange that we have barely utilised the loan market to strengthen the team

1 loan signing

especially with the amount of players that needed to be replaced you would have thought the loan market would have been perfect for us

interesting
Definitely thought they would have filled all the loan slots up maybe gives us some scope in jan

More than anything I am surprised by the age profile of the players we have signed this summer.
Anzou and Dibling are just 19. Barry, Dibling, Alcaraz and possibly now Rohl as well all 23 or under.

I thought David Moyes would go for more experienced, older players but it looks as if we are trying to build a team for the future as well as the present.
This shows that the final decisions aren't being made by Moyes, which is good news for the club.

Get 'frustrated' all you want. It's just simply being misplaced in this case for the reasons I've outlined 🤷‍♂️

For the record - a 'specialist right back' before this window closed would've been a 'nice to have' of course, but not a 'must' have..

The reasons you originally outlined are why we needed to bring one in the first place imo.

Tbf we have Seamus and Patterson at RB with Garner as back up.

We obvs thought we had Tete too.
Moyes will makeshift but I think it's also worth noting that ultimately a 39 year old Ashley Young appeared as the steadiest option between those two last season. I love Seamus as much as all of us but it was more than reasonable to assume retirement was on the table this summer for a reason. Patterson has been plagued with fitness issues but also been incredibly unreliable even when he's available. Maybe he puts together some of that potential in the first few months that seems still possible, I just think its equally plausible that we don't have even a median EPL level RB in the squad at present.
