Summer Transfer Window 2025 Thread

In the conference prior to Wolves game, Moyes was asked what type of player he would like to bring in. He mentioned it's down to what we need as a team, whether it an attacking winger, more speed/pace, or more stature.

I would suggest given our mosquito fleet in terms of midfield size, the Rohl/Soucek links mean he is looking for an extra threat at set pieces, as a direct ball upfield at times, but also as extra help for trying winter conditions where size and strength are handy. His history with Cahill and even Fellaini point to a penchant for having this midfield aerial threat area covered.

We did look small in the midfield v Wolves. A bit of stature in the middle of the park could indeed add nicely to the mix.

It does feel a bit like a younger Soucek option doesn’t it?

He’s 23 though, so unless he’s crazy money doesn’t feel too risky a punt. Am getting flashbacks to the year of the 48 number 10’s though 😱
I watched a load of highlights of him the other month when we were linked.

He's a powerful runner and he's been played as a number 10 at times because of the same thing we did with Doucoure

But he's much, much better with the ball than Doucoure and I'd expect if he's coming here that he's being seen as a number 8 in that 433 we've been playing at times. Wouldn't expect he'd be playing in a 2 as part of a 4231

Having said that, all this comes from an indykaila report, so the chances of him coming here today are basically nil

He's also a ball winning midfielder.

Runs arounds pressing like his life depends on it. He won over 80% of his tackles in the Bundesliga last year. He presses so hard he leaves gaps behind, so suited to a midfield 3 more than a 2 man setup. I think he would be a gana replacement during AFCON also.

He's been a little injured of late and used sparingly, with indifferent form after his injuries, which should bring his price down from the £21.3 mill mark Freiburg were looking for when clubs were sniffing around en masse, to somewhere around the £15-18 mill mark, which would be a good deal imo.

Am I reading too much into this?

They told us to judge them on September 1st. Well right now I’m preparing to judge them at a 5/10. First half of the window was a complete unholy mess, salvaged post-US a bit with the signings of KDH, Grealish and Dibling. But currently we are on course to finish the window with huge holes and weaknesses still in the key areas of the squad.

I want to see our recruitment team better prepared for the January window, no excuses either because their mates are finishing their gardening leave and starting this month. They better be getting straight to work so they are ready for the 1st January.

It's finally arrived... The day of reckoning.

By tomorrow. It'll be done.

Who's gonna come out on top?

Everton, the arid sorcerers and celebrations all round.

Or, Everton, the wet witches and woe betide us all.

Either way, pitchforks may now be sharpened.

My guess...

RB from Roma (loan)
Midfielder from wherever
Maybe a surprise
