Man utd penalty today

I wasn't a million miles off then. Plus you have to remember in Bruno Fernandes time there I'm sure other Man Utd players have also taken penalties
I think it’s absolutely effing mental that they, a mid-level team, get so much of the rub of the green because of the corporate pull they have.

I actually don’t want us to become any of those, I want us to win despite the refs and the officials, not because of them. Can you tell one of my favourite films is ‘Escape to Victory’ lol

What's the actual rule for a penalty, is it when the foul starts or is it when the player decides to throw themselves to the floor? Or can the referee decide that a shirt pull started outside the box but increased in intensity inside the box and then apply discretion to give penalty?
I aways thought i was clear it was when the foul was initiated and therefore the penalty against Burnley should have been a free kick outside the box. Basically VAR should not have got involved in my mind.
But I'm confused now as some pundits, probably man utd fans, are saying it's a clear penalty.

A simple way to use VAR is each team has 1 call each (like a joker) once used you then go with refs decisions.
and then only have it for goal technology

its not rocket science

AI says the below. But in any case even if this is correct it was very soft as he clearly dived and there is no consistency with shirt pulling. I'm my mind no penalty but I despise Man u so probably not impartial.
  • When a continuing offence occurs:
If an offence, such as holding an opponent, starts outside the penalty area and continues into it, the referee awards a penalty kick because the offence was completed inside the penalty area, as per Law 12 of the Laws of the Game.

Yes something like this is much better. To be used for when each team is subject to an absolute howler like a challenge in tennis.
Goal line tech and offside are all OK as its not subjective. It's offside or not and over the line or not.
Maybe one 🃏 per team per half.
I mean most of this VAR stuff is usually super subjective. Anything that takes 4 minutes to decide should not be being watched over and over again by these spods.

I'm totally with you on that. It's why I'm happy we didn't get the oil money and won things that way as its a empty hollow way of winning to me

The actual rules matter a lot less than the badge on the shirt.

What does it say about this exact situation except add in that the player that was getting his jersey pulled stayed on his feet for 2-3 yards and then fell forward in the opposite direction of the shirt pull as soon as he crossed into the box.
