Summer Transfer Window 2025 Thread

I’m not as big a fan of our window as some tbh.
Haven’t brought in pace. Haven’t brought in a reliable defender. Haven’t brought in a reliable goal scorer. Haven’t brought in a natural replacement or actually a natural partner for Gana.

Looks unlikely we will at this point but let’s see. It’s a 6/10 for me so far.

Agree with the pace bit, but I feel Dibling hasn't come here to be a sub, a £40m pound sub, especially since we don't have a right winger to speak of in the squad, other than Dibling, Macca. Still time to get a right back.

If Moyes forces through Soucek he has too much power.

That's what it boils down to for me. I also think it would highlight issues with the recruitment structure if it's allowed to go ahead.
Completely agree with this. I would be extremely disappointed with this signing and what it represents. I am not against signing an older player but the profile here is not right. I am so past watching players who struggle to do the basics of football well

Which position would Moyes play Soucek? Seems highly unlikely he would be a (backup) DM. The other midfield positions are already taken. Since we are not on unlimited funds, its kinda weird to spend 20 mil on a 30 year old, who is not a starter. Not only that, we would probably already need an upgrade for him next season.

Thats 20 mil we cant spend on a position we really need reinforcements for. If we dont get a RB, it means our first backup CB (OBrien) is already in the starting lineup, which leaves us with only Keggers if something happens with Tark or JB.
Or its 20 mil we cant spend on a proper DM, which we lack in the squad. Especially when Gana is off to the AFCON.

i honestly dont see why Moyes is so insistent on getting him. Getting Soucek just looks like bad business.

I thought it was just an enquiry with west ham stating they'd like to keep him, believed everything today circulating has been emanating from football insider?
I have some mates who know some West Ham related info from time to time. I usually take no interest, as they're not a club I like, and it's of little interest to me whatever their latest cock up is. Anyway, they are ADAMANT that we are pushing hard to sign Soucek before the window shuts.

I'm just hoping it's not true. But it would certainly fit Moyes' MO and his terrible transfer record since he left us first time.

Most Everton manager's seems to be allowed to sign one of their boys as a gift

Martinez with his Wigan lads, Fat Ron really wanted Gylfi, Silva with Richy (reach cus Brands wanted him too), Fat Rafael with Rondon, Lampard with Dele and now apparently Moyes with Soucek

All absolutely roaring successes tbf

Saw enough from.Moyes version one to realise he will not play younger players if he has options or they are that good he can't avoid doing so. Usually he has circumstances force his hand.

But can look back at his trusting in youth.

Coleman, farmed out till about 22-23 on loans before eventually bring him enough minutes on the wing.
Baines sat on the bench for over a year behind a centre back converted to makeshift left back in lescott.- until Lescott has the worst game of his career v Dahlmat.
Barley - loaned out several times including the developmental loan to Sheffield united under Warnock who played him as a singer and a sub...
Rooney - the best generational talent of the last 40 years, built like a brick shihouse, who Moyes treated like he was just a young kid managing his minutes. When he was clearly ready to play every week - as he did right after moving from us.

Probs lots of others but those four stand out.
Ha ha ha your head has completely fell off your shoulders over this tenuous link!

Coleman baines went on to have the longest and most successful careers we could have hoped For. If he d played them before they were ready they could have been bombed out and considered not good enough after a year.

Rooney he came in and gave him his debut as a school kid and then the following season was a regular starter at 16.

Barkley got thrown in by Martinez straight after Moyes left and look at how his talent has been wasted by not learning his trade.

Can also mention players like anichebe, osman, James Vaughan, rodwell who he trusted straight out the academy to be first teamers

I just don’t see where Soucek fits in to the 11 and he’s only going to want to come if he’s guaranteed to start. That would mean dropping a way more important player to get him on the pitch. If he’s coming as squad player then the fee and wages need to be minimal, which they won’t be.

I’ve not read the last few pages but if Moyes thinks a former colleague of his can add value to us the I’m in. It’s not always about buying a brand, it’s about a squad with a number of 7/10 players who can do a job.
Everyone talks about the ‘starting eleven… Will blah get in’. Shock news, every squad has injuries, suspensions, loss of form and different tactics for different games. More shock news, the ones who have 11-14 reliable players tend to struggle.
I’m backing the manager if he specifically wants a player
Soucek would be a lieutenant on the playing side for Moyes in the same way
Young was for Dyche.

Someone who he has worked well with in recent times, has a strong bond and an understanding of what he requires.

This is the time we make the squad numbers up for the season and when AFCON takes place.

Necessary but not ideal, the clock is ticking and we are still short.
