Summer Transfer Window 2025 Thread

I still think we desperately need a proven striker.

Barry cant have all the pressure on him, and Beto certainly aint it!

I think someone like Mitrovic would be ideal for 2 years..
Think with the quality in midfield would prefer ivanovic from millwall is a risk but have a good chance if 10 mill to get money back if didnt work out and even tho a league below has a full season under him

Bargain that mate.

Same for Van Weijk the RB at Coventry

Add a CM and slam the widow shut.

Fat Frank coming in clutch
Any chance patterson can be included in the deal to get the price down

No, no he doesn't need to bid higher.

We spent over a month and rushed out on losing the transfer all together in order to eventually save roughly 8-10m quid, we are now offering apparently 12m quid for Soucek.

Absurd if true.

90-100k PW, 3 years. Already looking between 13.8-15.6m in wages before any fee. Thought of sinking 30m plus into bro going home on is frankly laughably bad

I think he would be worth it. Not a quick player so losing speed wont affect him. Probably will get the best version of Soucek for a minimum 2 years but if its 3 years then your looking at a good deal

Bid lower. That is my thought on this signing. Stay away please. Surely there is a right back, a promising young CM, a center back or a free agency signing somewhere in this world that we can make instead. I would be very annoyed with what has been a good window so far.

If we didn’t need a RB and CM, I’d be very happy with Soucek as a different kind of attacking midfielder to what we already have.

Sure, he’s older, but if Moyes thinks he’s within our reach, would be confident in him, and crucially wouldn’t treat him as a fixture in the starting XI (and I don’t think he would) then I’d be okay with it.

Options are key. We can’t ask for a rounded squad and then - when the ‘less fashionable’ but nonetheless useful, player is bought - panic he’ll be considered essential to every XI. We have to trust that - with genuine choice in the squad - that circumstances, and the opposition, will dictate our XI. Though I can understand how years and years of living without options can cultivate fear of an unchanging, pragmatic, XI. That’s behind us now, I would hope.

Anyway, for now I’m gonna treat Soucek as a welcome addition and assume we can fill the other holes in the squad, too.
Do you think we will bring in a player who will be the third highest earner at the club on 90k plus per season as a none starter?

There will always be a risk with the Ivanovic's and Fellows of this world but they are worth it as they are priced in a way that aside from catastrophic injuries they will make their money back and hopefully a bit more.
