Summer Transfer Window 2025 Thread

To all those saying/thinking that if we sign Soucek it 'ruins a good window' need to look at themselves. He's not Gbamin, he's not Sean Longstaff - ofc he's not the second coming of Gana Gueye either but you're not going to find that with a few days left in the window. 8 signings through the door is incredible business and we aren't going to fix everything in one window. If Moyes thinks Soucek plugs a gap and offers something out players are lacking then good.

Having said that if it's anything over £10m on anything more than a 3 year deal I'm gonna be pissed

Some bad stats, ya mean like passing, tackling, interceptions, progressing the ball? Arguably the four most important things for a DM.

I also have eyes and if you watched them play Chelsea and still argue he'd be a good signing then I'm lost for words. He was Bobby Martinez on Europe bad mate.

I dont know that id describe him as a defensive midfielder myself mate.

How does he compare to Doucoure - im sure he didn't make many interceptions, tackles - but was still effective in a defensive role- i see him in the same squad role. I see him as cover/competition for Garner and Idrissa and ability to play the Hybrid role dropping back to make a midfield 3.

You leave out some important stats to - 9 goals - this team scored the fewest of any team not relegated last season - goals need to be added to this team - before stressing about interception metrics.

Its adds to options and improves the squad.

Are you quite well, you are blaming him for all WHU goals, that's ridiculous.

What actually happened for anyone who didn't watch - was Potter dropped him to play Potterball and had to bring him back in because results disintegrated second half of the season. Which makes his goal return even more impressive.

Ala Lampard and Doucure here.

Any other questions im here to help mate! ;)

Potter dropped him for four games mate, 30 games into the season. Those four games included Liverpool away, they drew 2 of the other 3.

There resurgence in form after he came back the last 5 included two losses and two wins - away at man U when they given up to focus on the UEFA and Ipswich last game of the season.

The draw as against spurs who were absolutely terrible and again focusing on UEFA, the did grab a draw v saints though.

Hardly inspiring stuff like.

I dont get your point mate - he made a decision to drop him, got himself almost into a relegation battle, had to bring him back in and they got some wins! ;)

Moyes knows what Soucek does and does not offer better than any of us. If we bring him in (and I did flag 3 hours ago I expected Moyes to try) we should see him for what he is, a squad player who offers height at set pieces and attributes that are useful if we are chasing a goal or defending a lead. He is not the dynamic, athletic 6 we need and he is not going to improve team pace but in certain situations he would be potentially very valuable. If it is not big £ in fee or wages it makes some sort of sense.
