Summer Transfer Window 2025 Thread

I think you're taking certain posts and certain posters rather too seriously, then. I mean, look at my avatar, for heaven's sake... Not everything written here is all that seriously intended. In fact, in the other thread, I have actually said I'd give Moyes the benefit of the doubt on this until it actually happens...

But if people want to "overreact" or overreact to apparent overreactions, well, who am I to criticise?th
That could be true of what you type but at the same time you're telling me certain posters don't take this thread way too seriously with their intense diatribes about the club being a disgrace?, I think for me if you're going to have actual discourse which is the crux of a forum it's got have some semblance being tethered to an actual point rather than just being outraged for the sake of it as it's an ecosystem . But I don't want to belabor things anymore and go forth with the criticism as if you need my blessing

Going to nail my colours to the mast here - I don't want Soucek and I think signing him is potentially a failure of the new transfer committee

There's no world in which Soucek has been identified by any data-led process as what we need in midfield

He's slow, he can't pass, isn't mobile enough to make many tackles/interceptions - his whole game, as a midfielder, is about being a presence in both boxes - for a team who've just bough a load of low-socking wearing, maverick footballers, we need midfielders who can play through lines etc and get those togger-merchants on the ball. Soucek is pretty much the opposite of this.

I think we've has a really, really progressive window up to this point but this signing allows Moyes to indulge all of his worst tendencies and I'm disappointed that the structure has allowed Moyes to get his way on this.

It's just like putting a CB at AM

Have you ever watched Soucek play mate?

I have ++ to be honest, you could pull up a graph on Illy with some bad stats but it doesnt mean hes not influential.

Soucek is a clutch player for WHU, ill be surprised if i get him.

He will totally divide opinion here - in exactly the same way Doucoure did. In fact i think its like for like if im honest.

Honest to god people on here would base every transfer dealing on basic G/A stats

This would be a moshira era signing. Age, price, fit for the team and leaves on a free after we struggle shifting him a few years later
We spent a small fortune on 5 loans last season, none of which we received a fee for.

Not every signing needs to make a return.

So why are we paying £20 Million and similar wages as Doucoure, shouldn't we have just kept him.....

But given we have loads of boss midfielders maybe we need a grock to bring on or play every once in a while when we need a plan b?

at this point of the window it should be a question of, do they get in and improve our starting 11. If not move on.

It doesn’t make sense after the players we’d already signed.

Oh yes, funny when West Ham got hit on the counter multiple times last season because this caravan toeing gorm couldn't get back to cover.

I am assume you missed this because you was busy copying that weird helicopter celebration he does?

Are you quite well, you are blaming him for all WHU goals, that's ridiculous.

What actually happened for anyone who didn't watch - was Potter dropped him to play Potterball and had to bring him back in because results disintegrated second half of the season. Which makes his goal return even more impressive.

Ala Lampard and Doucure here.

Any other questions im here to help mate! ;)

Some physicality, I'd prefer a 6'4" 23 year old from Liege with a big afro but we aren't in that place now. Someone is going to throw themselves about a bit and look after the smaller lads in the squad, also having someone that can win headers further forwards when we're trying to get out from being pressured further back will be welcome. Even if it means oppo CB's can't double up on Barry. It's not a premium signing, and I hope the numbers aren't massive, but if it's some form of plan B side setup, so be it. It can't all come from Grealish and Illy, they need some of the heavy lifting done to.

How if we are being penned back is Soucek gonna be winning headers up front when he's a defensive mid mate?

Numbers - he's currently on 90k pw at West Ham with two years left on the contract - so can use that as the base point on what he'd be on at a minimum here. He'd be pretty much third top earner after Pickford and Tarkowski (inflated wages due to being a free).

Again to reiterate he was bottom 25% on interceptions and bottom 17% on tackles - at a team that struggles - which usually helps pad out defensive stats like that.

But given we have loads of boss midfielders maybe we need a grock to bring on or play every once in a while when we need a plan b?
I'd submit we have lots of boss attacking midfielders, but no boss central midfielders at all - I'd much, much rather get that sorted than the plan B (which will inevitably not be plan B for very long)

Get the feeling that the club has literally thrown out a shed load of enquiries the past few days on players. Either desperate or trying to get a late fallback option if someone they are waiting on suddenly becomes viable.

Unusual transfer window this as can't remember it being this close to the end and so many players who will move still left at their clubs.

Also a lot of teams have major needs still left unaddressed. Not just us.

Club recruitment team are just swiping right on every player and seeing who shows interest and will then decide who they want to approach

I'm assuming he only has a year left there?

£12m-15m is no big deal these days but still I would see WHU demanding more as is their right.

If it was anything more than that then we should step away but I would be skeptical about this being done anyway.

It's a No. 6 we need.
