2025/26 Harrison Armstrong

The other thing is like Moyes is quite an old school manager in that if you do the job, you keep the shirt so to speak.

Like I don't think he massively fancies Iroubougnam, but after his good performance at the weekend I think he will keep him in.

He obvious comparison night be Gordon the season he broke through. People wanted to pan him out, but when he got his chance, he basically didn't leave the team, and quite honestly was quite an important player for us that season.
In terms of playing young players, from within the club, he's positively a dinosaur tbh. This is why I would send him out on loan, i don't think he'll get the game time under him and he (and us) will be better if he plays regularly in the Championship.

He has Dowell syndrome in the sense that he needs to find more ways to be active in league games. Unlike Dowell he is more of an athlete so I don't think that is the issue but maybe a bit of experience in the league will do him some good. Look at where we are in the winter. There will be Afcon and injuries so I suspect he will see a large amount of cup time and some decent subby minutes. Maybe even give him a shot or 2 in the no. 10 position to see if he can show the magic in league games.
Let's not make the same mistake we did with Dowell then, which was the season he should have broken through was keep him in the reserves and don't loan him out.

By the sounds of it Derby would love to have him back. Could do alot worse than playing a full season in the championship or put a call in to our old mate Marcel at PSV. Worked wonders for Branthwaite. But I have no idea if he would get a game at PSV

He gave Rooney his debut at 16 and he gave James Vaughan plenty of minutes. He also gave a teenage Declan Rice lots of minutes. If you are good enough for Moyes your old enough. He will pick entirely on merit. Fans are always desperate for young players to play on the hope that they are better than the first team but that is hardly ever the case. Moyes sees the players day in day out.

He's the team's brightest prospect, so naturally the fans are eager to see him flourish... somewhere far, far away.
So they can witness the poetic stylings of Tomas Soucek or Josh Brownhill week in, week out...

As it stands we can’t loan him.
Only way I see a loan is if we bring in another top midfielder.

Don't see the value in a loan to a Championship team now, he's proven himself at that level.

It would only make sense if a top European side competing in Europa League or Champions League wanted a loan. (Leverkusen or Lepzig). His value could easily be over 50 million if he had a great season playing in Europe.

I want him to play in our first team though!

Could we not have a recall option on any loan involving Armstrong ? Has that been done before or is it only Rugby league where that happens.

You can't break loans outside of transfer windows, and needs agreeing beforehand, so we could bring him back January if they allow a break in the deal of a loan.

But right now, unless we sign a midfielder, just don't see how he can go.
