I very clearly referred to both Everton’s history of buying from that league as well as other clubs who have had plenty of recent success.

Joleon Lescott would be another example, excellent player for us (up until he downed tools) and we received an enormous fee for him.

So we’ve managed to make it plural… as I say, hardly enough evidence to construct a transfer strategy around.

If you were to list the players that other clubs have signed that have turned out to be PL duds, that would turn out to be significantly longer.

Signing players from that league is a risk.

The level of price inflation this last few weeks seems insane. Never known anything like it.

Is Isak quoting at £150m the cause of this?!

Basically the top clubs can pay and have been paying stupid money for players.

This in turn has been boosting the price of players dramatically. Meaning that the only teams that can now go out and buy the best players are the top 4 team.

I personally think this is a intentional strategy to make sure that the top teams stay at the top by making sure lower teams cant actually buy players that can make the compete in the league.

Of course it is.

But those risks aren’t equally sized and shaped across all leagues.

The Championship isn’t a goldmine of players waiting to be discovered. It’s largely filled with players who are good enough to play in that league - with a select few capable of making the step up.

If we have players that aren't playing it's because they're not good enough. They're the players at the top of the list of ones that need replacing.

Still doesn’t. We’re replacing a striker that was currently in the squad. We’re obviously not going to get a striker in that won’t play.
