2025/26 Thierno Barry

I seem to disagree with most in this feed. I've seen enough already. Doesn't seem to be able to do anything right. headers the ball like his got a 50p head, can't hold the ball up, can't run with the ball, can't break the line as he looks like his running in custard. I'm i completely wrong?
You have the rather modern condition of internet brain, one of the symptoms of which is supremely unrealistic expectations of reality.

Been watching too many compilations on youtube.

Much like porn, you now expect people to finish in a certain way

Reality is very different, much more imperfect

I like the lad... he's good at holding the ball up with his back to goal when played to feet even with a centre half up his chuff and 3 goals in the last 2 games came from him doing exactly that. He's got vision and eye for a pass as well... he could have had an assist in the first half last night if Alcaraz wasn't muscled off it so easily.

Promising signs imo.

Good grief

Yes

Can see he's raw. Doesn't mean he's rubbish, just that certain games are going to suit him better than others. He's a runner who looks for space, was never going to get much joy against a team so rigidly in a low-block. Beto would have been better to start as he moves less and so always occupies a marker.

A goal will do him the world of good I think. Would still start again him this weekend.

Love this wrighty lad. Go in hard and early. Dont back down at any point. Then when people start turning make sure they know you were the first.

Caveat: arm chair analysis.

I had some down time last night and started to watch some videos and highlights of Barry, both before we signed him and after.

He’s positioning himself very differently in the box with us than he did previously. I think it’s pretty good evidence that he’s following instructions.

In the box, I kept thinking “he needs to work on making movements to the front or back post.” Instead, he’s staying central (when in the box) and he’s dropping a little deeper in the box than you’d expect with wide play developing around him.

It means he’s not really in a great position to receive the ball, but it’s pulling at least 2 defenders to him. I think he’s being told to do it. I can imagine the defenders are very uncomfortable being pulled subtly out of shape in their own box.

It’s not exactly false 9 play as he’s staying advanced, but he’s still pulling out the center halves while the 3 behind him are probing.

Of course, I could be wrong and he’s just timid in the box. But it’s very different from how he played before we signed him.

I haven't read any of your other posts @Wrighty but I've seen enough already to tell me you're totally clueless.

Or maybe it's not very fair for me to come to a snap judgement like that?

Lad looks utterly clueless, it baffles me how hes scored a single top level goal.

BUT.

Hes a youngish lad moving to the hardest league in the world and its gonna take time before we can judge him fairly.
