Summer Transfer Window 2025 Thread

Sky Sports seem to believe it’s Burnley after Florentino Luis. I think we have been linked previously so you’d hope we have done more than enough research on him.

Get him boxed off on loan and we’re nearly there.

I think it's this;

We really need some pace out wide, and a forward who can hold the ball. Not sure if that's Barry yet, but feels like he's similar to Beto/needs space to run into.
I actually think we need pace centrally also, Tim, Armstrong, Garner, Gueye, KDH none of them are fast.

Lack of pace is a huge reason we tend to sit on a relative low block - we don't have recovery pace if we play further up.

It's also why I was delighted to see McNeil out of favour, but the Soucek rumours started which would be lumbering us with one of the slowest players in the league at the heart of the side.

Only rapid player we brought in is Aznoe who I'm beginning to feel Moyes won't play him unless there's literally nobody else left.

A DM whose got a Barry like level of reading the game reduces the need for pace there but at fullback and in at least one attacker - winger - we need someone who can motor

Defensive midfielder?
Benfica fans seem to loathe him. Gives up 2-3 shots a game by panicking when pressed. Reckon he's decent when you have hardly any possession against better sides, but a liability if you want to hold onto it.

They said they'd drive him to the airport themselves for €15m. Not exactly a glowing endorsement. A loan maybe as an extra body would be ok, i guess, but nothing to be particularly excited about...

It'd be almost like we had options depending on form and the opposition wouldn't it.

Fofana Grealish Dibling Ndiaye Alcaraz, pick any 3 from 5 depending on their form would be a great position to be in.

That said I don’t think Moyes wants players who don’t want to be here so struggling to see the Fofana one happening. Would be a great statement if it did though.

Feels like a lazy link as Roma were still linked as of yesterday?

And Burnley are in as well

I've never really thought he would be a good fit here, despite him having been linked in the past, mostly because he seems to excel as the number 6 in a 433 and we've never really played that system - until the last couple of games. If people are after a player who sits and screens the back 4 and is a bit of a monster, then this might be the profile you want. Personally I want someone with a little bit more "Gareth Barry" to their game in this role as I think Florentino is less capable as a distributor, but if we really are swinging towards a proper 433 this year then this might work.
