2025/26 Harrison Armstrong

Tonight has cemented for me that he should go out on a good loan this season. BECAUSE he played well.

For players his age it is all about minutes, minutes, minutes. Him developing into the best player he can be is much more important to us than what he adds with 15 minute cameos here and there.

All about how many minutes he will get hd he stays, if we can overall get him around the 1000 mark this season then he should stay - with Grealish and a few others we now have he will benefit hugely just training with that quality - as long as he does get those minutes too.

Should not go out on loan before the end of January even if we sign another midfielder. He seems to be ready to get PL minutes and we need some cover when Gana goes to AFCON. Clearly deserves a chance.

Stay until Jan. If he is playing every cup game, that is good experience honestly. Give him some sub appearances and see if he can work the same kind of magic in a league game. He clearly has vision (maybe the best at the club). Just have to see him perform in a high pressure situation. He could be a world beater. Just needs to find ways to stay involved in league games.

He did everything tonight that he did at Derby last season , short passes, longer through balls, taking the ball and turning, tackling when necessary. And a bit of maturity too, when he lost the ball he managed to poke it back to Tarks , last season he’d have taken out the opposing player and got booked in his eagerness. Loved the way Tarks was telling him where to defend at one corner . Not the finished article but getting a full 90 mins is great experience for him to build on .My MoM

Obviously at Derby he was the deepest midfielder, I wonder if rather than signing a 6 we could use him there in the premier league. Or at least rotate with Garner each game.

Otherwise, he'll probably need games for his development so should go on loan.

Spot on though the loan has to be right for his development. I imagine a few championship clubs are waiting on us to see if we bring in a new midfielder so Armstrong would then be available

Problem with Armstrong is simple, right now we don't know exactly what position he will develop into, a good problem to have, but also one we need to figure out. We send him on loan then it's at the decision of some lower league manager where he plays this season - and that may not be where we'd like development wise.

Still remember Warnock using Ross on the wing for example - a loan that would have done nothing but harm his development in truth.

Keep him in house - if we do loan don't go down the championship route, he's had a season there already, if the lads mentally ready then let him go Holland or Germany for a season instead - it did Jarrod no harm.

No doubts he will be sent unfairly out on loan - if it is only till January as we need players who can change a game - always looking for a through ball - one mistake in not squaring it to Barry - should not deter DM keeping him the squad IMO ....
I think there is a lot of doubt about him going out on loan.

We are low on numbers in midfield and he is technically excellent and has high devevelopment potential but regardless he has a lot to offer right now

If Hackney got sold I could see him ending up at Boro on loan actually - not my choice of what to do like...
