2025/26 Seamus Coleman

Seamus is obviously still the voice of the dressing room Moyes would rather keep on his side. Hence the contract.
It really isn't tat complicated is it?

Especially as Davey has said it umpteen times.

But there is no explaining that to those who it doesn't fit in their agenda.

I'd say the new contract ain't exactly breaking the Bank either way.

If Davey wants him togged in the dressingroom as a positive influence on the probably ten new players, that works for me.

The baton will be passed to Tarkowski and Pickford next May.

Cannot understand the abuse he gets in here, when there have been numerous other financial drains on this club who hung around for years in our physio room. Not to mention he's one of the most humble and genuine fellas out there. Same can't be said for the mercenaries that passed through our doors over the years.

He could still be a humble and genuine fella as a coach on a coach’s salary though couldn’t he.

WB Yeats.

GOT is indeed a cultural hotspot 👍

Except people infinitely better than you, qualified in medical and sport science, have a different opinion and think he is fit enough for another year's contract. Hell maybe even these so called bloody experts have access to Seamus himself to assess these things first hand.

I guess its having different views that make the world a more interesting place!

Will you concede if he doesn`t get on the pitch tonight, against a league one team, that the contract he was given was pretty much pointless, especially when he`s the only " fit " right back we have.

I love the fella and he still is a wonderful servant to the club and I genuinely hope he stays on in some capacity, but his playing days finished two seasons ago at this level - again, not his fault.

Honestly I've enough going on to let the coaching staff worry about that. But yes I expect Seamus to play for sure unless we're saving him for Wolves(!)

Do coaches play in the first team? Don't think so. Coleman was on the bench on Sunday and will likely play some part tonight. Everton offered him the contract, he didn't hold them to ransom. Are you just annoyed that it's 55k pw to a fella past his prime?

Just for the record, Andre Gomes was on £112k pw (£5.84m pa), Dele Alli & DCL each on £100k pw (£5.2m pa), Yerry Mina was pocketing £120k pw (£6.24m pa). Were you as outraged with them?

Coleman will cost the club c £2.86m for his last contract as a player. We have wasted far more money on many others who brought nothing to the team and certainly didn't care about the club or the fans.

Bizarre take from some on here...
