Re-claiming the city of Liverpool

Years ago a mate of mine from London, Millwall fan, used to go regularly to Liverpool (the city) to work. He once told me "Look Ged, don't want to upset you but I have been in Liverpool on many saturdays and when LFC play it is packed with fans, when EFC play there are hardly any in town". I told him, yep, because when we play most of our fans go to Goodison from home, no need for most to go into the city centre. When they play, many of their "fans" are in hotels, or come from the airport, or arrive at Lime St station. They then go in their city centre shops, and restuatants, etc."
He then got it.
So, now, with the new ground location, that has changed a bit, right?

Nail on the head.

Respect.

Obviously your mates no doubt accurate observation was a few years ago go . I think what’s interesting is that I don’t think the RS have been drinking in town too much in recent years , they head down to by the grand for their cult rally .

Even before Sunday most , including RS , could name at least a couple of Everton boozers in the city . Which ones are RS ? You used to have a few with murals attracting telly clappers ,most of which have disappeared .

I know the red lion was their attempt at a Denbigh vibe but it didn’t catch . They’ve obviously got supporters like us who meet up pre and post match , I know a few but I honestly can’t place a boozer

Funniest thing I read over the spring was Jurgen's on the Strand getting binned off for a more blues-friendly boozer with the new stadium now open. Owners shamelessly chasing the bag

It was rocking on Sunday after the game.

They had a guy singing and playing guitar and it was relayed to the people sitting and standing outside.

Inside it was packed.

And EFC flags were hoisted above the doors 😂

As an aside - did anyone happen by Blackstock Market on Sunday?

Looks like there's absolutely nothing on their socials referencing the game/fans despite the new stadium being practically on their doorstep. They hosted some sort of 'samba soiree' over the bank holiday weekend as well as the 'Family Fundays' they do every weekend anyway. The owners are known kopites and I'm sure I heard a rumour that they would be turning away blues on matchdays if they 'wore colours' despite the fact that they're happy to host hundreds of red teleclappers whenever they're on the box..

We got to the Railway Inn at opening time (10.00). By 10.20, it was full inside and outside. Koff back to Norway.
The Railway at the top of the steps of Kirkdale station was our first stop off the train. Gone but not forgotten.
I'll take the opportunity to give a shout to the Hangman. A nice welcome and advice on where to park and on that topic shame on the council for the restrictions placed regarding parking that far away from the stadium.

Kopites will be Kopites.

I'm a Uber wool and stayed in my motorhome at kings dock, walked up to lime street at 10ish and was great to see so many blues even at that time, post match stopped for a pint near tithebarn and then one in dale street, that area was rammed and loads walking through town back to the van

Great to see

They used to use Ned Kelly's on Victoria st 10-15 years ago. Think they might still use it under its new name (Victoria Cross)?

The Blob Shop was always a red pub too.
Not really surprising when you see the clientele in there.
