Summer Transfer Window 2025 Thread

I kind of get your point, but Newcastle, Villa and Forest have already made their progress in qualifying for European competitions. So whilst they may be a bit frustrated right now, they don’t regret maxing out their expenditure one bit, and Newcastle and Forest both achieved it by investing in an over 30 Chris Wood, who everyone on here would have whinged about had we signed him.

It all depends on the price of course, but the idea that Soucek couldn’t hold down a place at Everton and is on his way to the knacker’s yard isn’t accurate imo. I think he’d get both game time and goals at Everton, and would be a valued addition depending on the price.
My point is that we cannot afford to max out on players with no sell-on value. We don't have enough assets yet that we could afford to lose them next summer. Tarkowski and Gana will probably need to be replaced next year (or at least have an understudy brought in), as will Grealish.

We cannot be losing any of Branthwaite, Dibling, Barry or Ndiaye yet if we want to keep moving up. Put simply, we have some really good players, but we're not in a position yet (as in, by next summer) where we can be selling on an asset to stay compliant AND continue to progress. So we cannot be spending good money on a huge Czech albatross around our neck.

Bissoma also linked.
True... Though tenuous IMO. Loan, if at all, due to attitude.

Don't need any boat rockers. Reckon our squad is/ will be pretty tight knit and on the whole harmonius. Alcaraz would be the one, of all of them, that I reckon could become disillusioned. Perhaps, Dwight.

They hit the woodwork twice, missed a pen and Welbeck somehow missed an open goal. There’s no doubt that Brighton were the better team, especially in the first half.
To be fair though mate - the first time they hit the bar was a Tarks error, the second was a massive deflection, the third big chance was the back pass, and the penalty was never a penalty in a million years.

That said, the defensive mistakes are a massive concern, we were doing the same in pre season so I’m hoping it’s just some rustiness we need to shake off still

Amorim is just covering hiw own A$$ ...he signed Ugate for that role, now he realizes he is too slow for EPL but Mainoo is somehow the problem? Good managers get the best out of young talent, maybe get them to make adjustments- not push them all out the door.
Maybe he doesn't think Mainoo is that talented though, Nobody seems to know what his best position is, off the ball he is not great and there is the small issue of him wanting mega bucks on a new contract which so far he has done nothing to justify.

Following have been linked, some tenuously. Probably forgotten a lot.

RB

could see loan from Roma (Rensch or Celik), been mentioned. Would be a quick deal, easily done last minute. Would explain lack of links or urgency last few weeks.
Ewijk - probably not got the cash.
Fort - maybe on loan or bought with experienced Roma RB on loan.

C(D)M

Lopy was linked (want to believe toffeenut - DION).
Frendrup - probably too expensive unless we sell.
Mainoo - purchase price prohibitive. Loan definitely.
Santos - not sure they'd let him go. Loan perhaps.
Soucek - not sure is what we need
Hackney - price, profile and age probably don't fit.
Brownhill - see soucek

ST - bonus. Mitrovic or Toney? Would mean chermiti goes, perhaps even Beto.

Either way, after the win. Pressure is a bit less.
Let's enjoy the rest of the ride.
Long live everloan.
Destroying windows past and present.

Up You Merse. UTFT
Toney, possibly.

Interesting.

We let a few chances go as well, but it's tough to argue that Brighton didn't at least deserve a point from that match, if not all three.

Having said that they didn't so I'm happy.
