Summer Transfer Window 2025 Thread

I wonder who the next player, strongly linked enough he gets his own thread, will be?
They’ll need to get their skates on. It was two weeks between Grealish and Dibling and in that time I don’t recall us being persistently linked with any other players. The odd mention here and there, yes. But no target persistently reported or reported from differing sources. Six days left.

Hence why I said he'd be replaced with a loan.

I wouldn't let him leave without another body coming into the club.
I doubt he will go anyway, we really need a squad. If our subs are McNeil, Alcaraz, Beto etc then we are doing something right for a change!

He will probably play at least some minutes in almost every game this season, no doubt starting many as well.

Quite....

Was going put something similar but can't be arsed getting into it.

My head hurts.

I didn't follow the conversation, so I deleted that, I thought we were talking about someone else.

For McNeil, I'd only sell him if there was an offer too good to refuse. The guy is on peanuts and has become a productive attacking player. He's too good of a bargain to be replaced at the moment given the other needs.

Yep. Really he shouldn't be starting much but perfectly happy with him as a squad player.

Then maybe move on next summer.

Is thats all thats left? Bloody hell they're gonna need to get a proper move on.

We haven’t been able to handle pressing tactics for 5-6 years. And it’s gotten a lot worse in the last 3. Lacking pace to break the press is a huge disadvantage. The Alcaraz to Beto outlet helped last Spring, but it’s still a concern.

NDiaye, KDH, Gana, and Grealish all made us look a little better in that regard on Sunday. Long may it continue.
Technical ability and tactical competence amongst your back 6 are more important than pace if you want to beat the press by playing out from the back. Need to be able to play one and two touch passes calmly under pressure, with a clear structure of who goes where and when to create overloads. We haven't really had the personnel to look after the ball nor had the managers to put them in a system that does it.

As a result we have tended to hoof the channels or to no.9, missing out the press altogether.

Not sure I can see that changing any time soon as not sure it is strictly within Moyes' nature and I still hold doubts over the likes of Pickford, Tarkowski, O Brien and Mykolenko to play that high risk passing game in our own third.

Once we get territory up the pitch it's a different story

See Roma been looking at Tyrique George from Chelsea. Around 15m euros.

He was another I thought we could pick up late in the window if we did want another option who could play left or right wing.

I just can't see that happening at all.
Wouldn’t shock me. He might himself want to go if he isn’t going to go many minutes here.

He is in his prime years and he has been a starter for a few years now.

Yet he now finds himself arguably 4th choice for both LW (Ndiaye, Grealish, Alcaraz) and RW (Dibling, Ndiaye, Alcaraz) and probably even lower down for CAM (with all the above mentioned likely moved around to there if needed along with KDH and Tim ahead of him there as well).

He has good stats for goals/assists. But Moyes doesn’t seem to fancy him.
