Summer Transfer Window 2025 Thread

From The Athletic Deal Sheet post:

Everton have been informed of West Ham United’s desire to retain Tomas Soucek after lodging an enquiry for the Czech midfielder. The Merseyside club are keen to strengthen in the centre of the park before next Monday’s deadline and showed an interest in Aston Villa’s John McGinn earlier this summer. Soucek, 30, was a favourite of Everton manager David Moyes during their time together at the London Stadium and fits the bill as someone who could add athleticism and physicality in midfield. Soucek’s Premier League experience also counts in his favour, with stalwart Idrissa Gueye likely to compete for Senegal in AFCON this December. West Ham, though, are unlikely to sanction a sale unless replacements are found. Patrick Boyland and Roshane Thomas
Soucek might get some goals but just adds to one of achilles heels i.e. lack of pace in the team. We will be badly exposed on this on the bigger pitch at the new stadium, as Brighton showed even if they could not deliver any killer punches..

Our emotions have been on a rollercoaster this summer with regards to player recruitment.

I’m now relaxed and confident in believing that they are going for better quality players which will be harder deals to do.

Nobody would have believed we would have Grealish, KDH and Dibling back in May.

Quite exciting to see who else they bring in before the close of the window.

I'm hoping the recruitment team are just placating Moyes - so far nobody who has arrived seems 'overly' Moyes, go get a RB and DM from abroad - way better value a lot wider choice. Buying that position inside the league you get absolutely skinned - see how much Brighton have made flipping them.
Agreed, feels like they've found a decent middle ground with KDH and Grealish being players Moyes will want for the here and now but not over-investing in the short term.

100% yes on DMs from inside the league. Constantly baffled at the word that Moyes wants one with prem experience. Who is even on that list?? I can't think of a single one available who's at all decent. Must be such a short shortlist lol.

We will have dibbles, jack, and skilliman running at defenders, not as worried about it pace. If anything, we need pace in the FB position and can afford a slower cm. Gana and KDH aren't exactly slow either

Think we will be pleasantly surprised with the remaining ones we get.

Following have been linked, some tenuously. Probably forgotten a lot.

RB

could see loan from Roma (Rensch or Celik), been mentioned. Would be a quick deal, easily done last minute. Would explain lack of links or urgency last few weeks.
Ewijk - probably not got the cash.
Fort - maybe on loan or bought with experienced Roma RB on loan.

C(D)M

Lopy was linked (want to believe toffeenut - DION).
Frendrup - probably too expensive unless we sell.
Mainoo - purchase price prohibitive. Loan definitely.
Santos - not sure they'd let him go. Loan perhaps.
Soucek - not sure is what we need
Hackney - price, profile and age probably don't fit.
Brownhill - see soucek

ST - bonus. Mitrovic or Toney? Would mean chermiti goes, perhaps even Beto.

Either way, after the win. Pressure is a bit less.
Let's enjoy the rest of the ride.
Long live everloan.
Destroying windows past and present.

Up You Merse. UTFT
Bissoma also linked.

Same with fullbacks, most teams in the league aren't carrying two good in those positions, so you are essentially buying a cast off, or trying to buy a starter, or taking someone They want shut off.

I'm not in favour of Soucek at cm, but I don't think we need pace in centre mid as badly as we need physicality (height and strength). Leeds exposed that

Do you have any inside knowledge? Not the mole are you?

Anyhow, we have 6 days left basically! After Dibling, addressing the right sided elephant in the room, our window is now up to a 7/10 for me.

Still need minimum a starting RB. and as others have said would love a starting DCM and a goal scoring striker.

If the reports about Patterson to Spain are to be believed, then I would have thought a new RB is incoming?
