Summer Transfer Window 2025 Thread

Would take soucek, probably not expensive and low wages. We need another midfielder and even 2, where one is young and can fill in. Then send Armstrong on loan.
Low wages?

He's on 90k per week at West ham and has two years left - that'd put him behind only Pickford as our highest earner besides maybe Tarkowski - on about 30k more per week than Ndiaye. On 50-55k pw more than Garner.

KDH isnt a centre-mid? I've heard it all now!
I probably interpret CM more as defensive/ holding players.

The sort of position Charley went tits up in during the build up to Leeds 'penalty'. Not that he meant too, obvs.

I don't see KDH plugging that gap, I think he's more of a forward looking link up player more naturally suited to Jack / Dwight territory, behind the front 3.

But yeah, not a forward, so a midfielder. I'm going now.

From The Athletic Deal Sheet post:

Everton have been informed of West Ham United’s desire to retain Tomas Soucek after lodging an enquiry for the Czech midfielder. The Merseyside club are keen to strengthen in the centre of the park before next Monday’s deadline and showed an interest in Aston Villa’s John McGinn earlier this summer. Soucek, 30, was a favourite of Everton manager David Moyes during their time together at the London Stadium and fits the bill as someone who could add athleticism and physicality in midfield. Soucek’s Premier League experience also counts in his favour, with stalwart Idrissa Gueye likely to compete for Senegal in AFCON this December. West Ham, though, are unlikely to sanction a sale unless replacements are found. Patrick Boyland and Roshane Thomas

Kinnear and Hammond need to just lie to Moyes if Soucek becomes available.

Be absolutely criminal if West Ham get a good young midfielder and then sell Soucek to us.

Would be utter madness.

The Paqueta link on the other hand ;)

Instant upgrade on KDH and both are also better as CMs...competition.

There's buying your manager a 'gift' player who isn't great but they like working with and knows the system...which I'm not generally a big fan of in the first place...and there's buying a 30 year old Thomas Soucek.

I'm hoping the recruitment team are just placating Moyes - so far nobody who has arrived seems 'overly' Moyes, go get a RB and DM from abroad - way better value a lot wider choice. Buying that position inside the league you get absolutely skinned - see how much Brighton have made flipping them.

I’m torn on Gallagher. I was never impressed with him during his time at Chelsea but weirdly think he’d do well for us/under Moyes. He’s disciplined and industrious. A loan with an option could work. I’d arguably rather have him than Mainoo.
Issue is his best position is the same as KDH as is how he plays kinda

I think Gallagher would be excellent in the system we played on Sunday as the right sided number 8. Can't see it though. I'm not actually a huge fan of his as a player, but I can appreciate he would probably bring a lot to the team.

Last thing I'll say on either Soucek or Brownhill.

You bring either of those in, you are commuting around 90k pw to a centre midfielder for the next 3-4 seasons taking them until around 33-34yo.

If we offer that type of wage - they will be starting - as they'll be coming in on substantially more than others in the same position.

Think half the time people call for certain players who are crap just to enable them to have somebody to moan about and continue the negativity line for a few years more
