From The Athletic Deal Sheet post:
Everton have been informed of West Ham United’s desire to retain Tomas Soucek after lodging an enquiry for the Czech midfielder. The Merseyside club are keen to strengthen in the centre of the park before next Monday’s deadline and showed an interest in Aston Villa’s John McGinn earlier this summer. Soucek, 30, was a favourite of Everton manager David Moyes during their time together at the London Stadium and fits the bill as someone who could add athleticism and physicality in midfield. Soucek’s Premier League experience also counts in his favour, with stalwart Idrissa Gueye likely to compete for Senegal in AFCON this December. West Ham, though, are unlikely to sanction a sale unless replacements are found. Patrick Boyland and Roshane Thomas
