2025/26 Thierno Barry

Link up play was good. Saying that ultimately he will be judged on goals, he needs to be sharper, reckon that will come with time on pitch...

Think the judging a striker on goals is rubbish tbh, I judge them by how the team plays and if we score more when they play.

Didn't score the other day, but if we replace him with Beto - neither of those goals happen as he did the ground work to enable both.

Every time he's moved he takes a period to adjust to the step up then it clicks for him. Give him until December without getting on his back then watch him kick on.

This, indeed. Beto being completely sidelined against Leeds was one of the main reasons we lost that game. Barry showed a lot of entusiasm and was far more comfortable being involved.

I know we all would like another proper upgrade in this position but as it stands with Barry and Beto, and the likes of Chermiti under them, isnt really the worst setup we could have going into the season.

Its all set up for Barry to stake his claim really.

Its OK mate, he’ll get some respite when they all turn on Dibling because he isn’t prime Messi from day one.

In what world can a fan not comment (politely) on a new signing without getting slated?! Maybe fans that dont ever go to the game should go just once to hear what's actually said by those not so polite!

Barry looks very raw. That's not rocket science to say that. Of course I want him to come good but for me he's behind Beto at the moment - and the fact Moyes thinks differently it seems fills me with hope we'll try and land another more experienced striker before the end of the window.

Maybe because the lad has played like 60 odd minutes in a new league, in a tough game that had a lot of pressure on it with it being our first home game at the new stadium. So people can pass their judgements but they are utterly ridiculous. As many pundits have said he had a really good game and they like what they see. The lad did very well.

I am a season ticket holder mate, i hear (and I shout) many impolite things at the game. But I have never shouted at anyone who has only played once or twice ‘you arent good enough’. I am not saying you (or anybody else for that matter’ has, but there are people on here who are so knee jerk it is nauseating. I agree they are entitled to say what they think, but then so am I. I didn't attack you or anyone else, I just made a general statement that there are loads on here who write people off on the basis of one or two dodgy performances. I happen to think that is mental!

That's a good point actually (although goals are handy obviously) Marcus Bent didn’t score many, but he was absolutely pivotal to the way we played in the early Moyes years. I personally think this kid will score goals, once he gets used to the players around him.

For me too its how the team gets points is more important. Yet its going to happen the judgments on goals scored by center forward.

Marcus Bent is case in point.

I watched him against Roma as well (or I'm going mad). Jesus it was just a comment that I was surprised at how raw he looks and the highlights shows he seems to fall over a lot as well.

And not shouting at anyone he's useless - just commenting on a discussion board!

You agreed and replied to a post that said he was useless and he didn't have this or that. That seems to me that you have made your mind up after 60 minutes of football. Roma was friendly. Give the lad a chance, tough game to start in that yesterday with the occasion.

First impressions thats all!

Mate, I’m genuinely not having a go? He does look raw, but then he is a young lad in a new league. He may well stay raw for all any of us know.
