Summer Transfer Window 2025 Thread

But he’s never relied on pace, has huge stamina, is a pretty good defensive midfielder and chips in with goals galore. He’s also the captain of his country, so adds more leadership to the mix.

Sure, he’s a bit old, but he’ll be decent for a good few years. Players also tend to play longer nowadays anyway.

I watched both west ham games this season mate, in the Sunderland game Diarra was going past him like he was stuck in glue, and as for Chelsea oh boy. DM in a team that's conceded 8 in two games.

He declined last season over previous, this he looks like he's fell off a cliff.

Yeah , obviously.
But conversationally, from my observation, I don’t think he is good enough.
My preference for a lower division signing would be Hackney , different position but a far more intelligent and skilful player at that level.
I totally agree with you but it appears Moyes is taking no notice of Hackney and I agree he was the best player in the championship last season.

People calling us to pay actual money and decent wages for a near 31yo soucek ....

Jesus wept, hes one of the worst passers in the league, actually slower than McNeil and is meh defensively. "But he scores goals" - yeah so did Doucoure, so does McNeil - and both are exactly reasons why we have been atrocious for years.

Bloody Soucek....
If Moyes buys Soucek, one can only conclude that, with the best will in the world, he is wedded to ordinariness.

Soucek was a decent player for what he was, but there is a terrible whiff of Moyes staying well within his conservative comfort zone AKA "he will do a job" with this. It's partly what killed him at United. Buying in Fellaini when the world was, basically, his oyster. It just smacks of a completely limited horizon.

If ever a club was crying out for a bit of fantasy, it's Everton. Look at what Grealish brought already. Look at what Ndiaye tries to bring. Yeah, we need versatility and solidity too, but Soucek is massively uninspiring when we are one Jack Grealish injury away from creative constipation.

I think there are very clear through lines for David Moyes entire career that is now over two decades old. I don’t think using Fellaini and Cahill differently is really some high level tactical flexibility.

I want to stress again that this is not a criticism!

Well he also used Mirallas and Pienaar completely differently, and Baines and Nuno Valente completely differently, and Marcus Bent and Yakubu completely differently, and Tony Hibbert and Coleman completely differently.

We need a player who is good enough in possession to get it off the back 4 and find balls between the lines, but out of possession can also hold their position and out tackles in. Ideally tall enough to head goal kicks away as well would be a bonus. Basically a Matic, Rodri, Casemiro, Busquets type (obviously very difficult to get ones as good as these but that type of player). We don’t need another player to chase the ball in midfield.

I mean, didn't really need to be, said we should sign Tom Fellows and he only really plays wide right.

Dibling is left-footed right-winger, all they want to do is come inside. We have, soon, 4 wingers and none of them want to play wide right and stay wide right.
What's wrong with that though?

Who plays right wing for Liverpool, Man City, Arsenal etc?

Width is important, but it doesn't have to be the wide forward who provides it all the time. I will grant you, however, that this only holds water if you've got a full back who can effectively provide the width instead and, despite their best endeavours we don't have one

That’s where a RB who can get forward and make overlapping runs would come in, at least that would give us some width wide right.
