I often wonder if those who champion the signing of very average ageing, ( in football terms) , players in preference to younger developing players are also the people who 2years later are fulminating about the club being hamstrung by these same players ‘leaching’ a wage while having little sell on value.

I think it’s more just as fans we have no idea on how much money we have to spend. If after Dibling it can only be loans, makes sense. If we still have quite a bit to play with then yeh.

I know it’s the way it is but the thought of following the model set out by two disgusting institutions like City and Chelsea makes me want to quit it all.

In effect they’ve created a factory production line of young players, which as you say is disgusting, but that’s the way it is now - hence why the likes of Blackburn, Bolton, Preston etc snap them up when they let go of them at 16/18.

Yeh the backhanded money must be insane from the bigger clubs. We just can’t compete with that. You hope some might have switched on families and see us as a better chance of breaking through but seems like even City, with all their millions, promote youth faster than us (mostly because they can take more risks).

Id personally be gambling on him being an upgrade to Garner, but I think we'd need a fantastic DM to go alongside him. Maaaaybe we snatch him up on deadline day if we manage to get a great DM lined up too.
