Tim Iroegbunam is a gem and anyone who thinks otherwise doesn't know how to watch football. He's a strong squad player and he's young, but he's better than many rotational players his age. We're lucky to have him and definitely got the better end of the virtual swap for Dobbin.

Has stuff to work on think a loan in a different country would help him work on his positioning. Is a tough role to learn and the good part of the deal is a good chance we would make money back on him

I wanna believe this. What am I missing when I'm watching him.

He doesn't control the middle, cross or pass particularly well.

Gabe's always been crap in front of goal and around the box, this feels looks the same.

But I wanna give him a fair go, what's he doing that I'm not seeing. I used to feel the same about Kelvin Phillips playing for England.

I think most of the time he’s played in a team that isn’t set up well so it’s hard to judge him. You could argue he is part of that problem but I would like to see him play with our full team a few times when he actually has forward options to pass to. His strength in that Bournemouth was beating the press and passing forward. Hard to do that if we are pinned back and there are no forward passing options.

A season out on loan could do him the world of good, but we'll need another CM in next week for that to happen. Get him and Chermiti out on loan, if they impress give them opportunities next season, if not, sell in the summer.

It’s a difference of opinion.
But the talk after those early games was definitely how good he looked .
And the discussion on here reflected that.
He suffered an injury and has struggled to recover that early form.
But I think he is well worth persevering with.

We do this with absolutely every new signing. They always get bigged up in their first few games. However without that recency bias we can see that our midfield leaked like a sieve and we conceded a lot of goals. Also his injury kept him out for a few weeks and he really should’ve recovered fully by now.

He lost his place after he returned and struggled for game time.
I’m not saying he will definitely come good , just that personally I think he showed enough to be worth persevering with. He is a young
player who still needs games to develop. That is the way clubs improve , by improving these players not discarding them and filling the team with aging has been and never were’s.
Whatever.
Again , we differ on opinion .

At any normal football club yes, but we don’t have the squad depth to send anyone out in loan except perhaps Harry Tyrer.

Tim would be lining up alongside him there if we’d had a proper transfer window.

If we can bring in another CM then a loan is ideal for him especially in the Championship or even Europe. Loans can take the raw edge of players but there is a player in there. Same for a few of the Fringe players, at worst it gets them developing and dare I say can bring in money for the future if they don't develop as we require. Other clubs have been using this model for years. Sometimes clubs bring in young players for financial gain in the longer term and it is a model we need to be better at. Best scenario is we get young first team players who are prem worthy at worst we make money on them. Stick in buy back clauses then job done.
