Summer Transfer Window 2025 Thread

Sure...triple their wages, and you see how quickly they come, European football or not. Fofana is meant to be in around 20k euros per week...offer him 100k pounds per week and he will be here in no time. Moyes and the recruitment team appears to be living in an alternate reality...
Don’t think players are the issue. It’s whether you want to pay £ms to agents

The only thing I would say is that if you look at the mid-table teams who finished around us it's difficult to see any who've noticeably improved with signings this summer.

I know we have more work to do than most of them in terms of numbers but it doesn't seem to be a buyer's market so far away that level.
Agreed, but that's the challenge for Everton. We can throw our hands up and say it's not a buyer's market and it's the same for all clubs. But if we do that, we are saying that nothing can change.

That strikes me as an unsustainable position.

Also, I wouldn't be too keen to defend the club. They're paid enough - and now charge fans more than enough - to be held to higher standards than "it's hard for clubs like Fulham, too."

Doesn’t it seem a trend mate, we heard we have money to invest, we heard we have money and are struggling to so end it, but we seem to be balking at spending it quite a bit.

I wonder is Hammond trying to over haggle to show competency in his new role.
I don't mind that approach if we can eventually achieve some sound deals and it's not performative , as financial recklessness towards transfers is what put us in a bind for years.

The over reaction is directly proportionate to the reason we thought we had for being optimistic: new owners, new stadium, less PSR issues...cant really blame anyone for being upset at perceived failure in this window. We should all blame ourselves for allowing ourselves to think that things might be different at some point...

They don't care for the surroundings just the bottom line of their bank account.
Today i'd say 90% of good players are cold ruthless self entitled mercenaries with agents to match.
Prime example is that biff Isak at the barcodes.
As are most of us when it comes down to it. The view from my office cubicle was never top of my list when considering a new job:)

I actually like the KDH signing, especially in the context of Barry, Aznou, and hopefully Dibling. Fine to have one or two like that at the right price.

But what's the point if Moyes isn't going to play them?

What's hilarious is if the top brass had been firm with Moyes from the start, and properly executed a strategy of building an exciting young core for the future, we could potentially be poaching Glasner sometime soon. As it is he won't look at us twice.

I'd have just looked at for example:

GK: Pickford
LB: Mykolenko
LCB: Branthwaite
RCB: Tarkowski
RB:
DM:
CM: Gana
LW: Ndiaye
ACM: Alcaraz
RW:
CF: Beto

The club will know an enormous amount of players and have data on and scouted them.

Back in February how has the process not started with agents? When we were safe why havent bids been made to clubs whose players agents' have given us their terms and done the work for us with their clubs on transfer terms?

I simply dont understand how all of the players we signed permanently couldnt have been done and dusted and through the door July 1st.

In addition, how and why have we not filled those vacant positions with the very best u23 players whose agents have been working with us since February?

Not really all DMs perhaps but Hugo Larsson (Frankfurt), Lamine Camara (Monaco), Andrey Santos (Chelsea), Habib Diarra (Strasbourg-Sunderland)

Just 4 players that we could have been speaking with and I'm confident that one of them would have signed for us.

Each of them with high potential and would be assets.

Thats just a basic list and perhaps none of them were suitable for us. But there would have been another 4 who we could have got, for each of those 3 positions.

If we'd have bid £45mil for Dibling pre-window wouldnt Southampton have sold him?

What about a £80-90mil double deal for him and Mateus Fernandes also of Southampton?

Would they have rejected this pre window?

No idea. But there are plenty of players like these 2 that i'm certain we could have nailed down early.

This is what the club needs. A rebuild with top quality, high potential young players.

Not the likes of senior, experienced players who should have been signed on loan (e.g Grealish).
