Summer Transfer Window 2025 Thread

A certain type of player does have aspirations to play in Europe, that was supposedly Delap's reasoning to sign for Chelsea I do get all the players comment does feel outlandish and yes you have man united pulling in players unfortunately they have more cultural cache due to more recent success just over a decade, and we seem to have money but not stupid amounts of money which seems key in bringing in players when you're not in Europe like Guimeres and Newcastle
If you honestly think the biggest differentiator between us and Chelsea is that they're going to be in Europe this season then I don't really know what to say. Players want to play in the Champions League for the biggest clubs, everybody knows that, but 'Europe'? It's maybe a slight consideration but I very much doubt it's a key point for the vast majority of players, and it's the job of the recruitment team to ensure that any player we speak to goes away with no doubt in their mind that playing half a dozen games in European backwaters for Forest or someone will be no substitute for what they can do if they come here, it's hardly asking a lot for them to sell the club to that extent.

we simply face the same recruitment problems next summer if Europe is such a major factor in players wanting to play here and it will be the same arguments, same excuses etc all over again.
but there are players that purely want to play in the premier league, I guess wages is another factor

so when you dont have european football I guess you either sell the "project" or you convince them with wages/prem status

We need a mixture of youth and experienced. So far we have 2 of each excluding our goalkeepers. I would think the RW will be Dibling or similar type and the RB and rest of squad filled with experienced players.

Your best mate, @Eggs

I think Barry and Aznou need until Dec because thats when games come thick and fast. You'd expect to see 'something' from the foreign players by then, even if they dont adapt fully for a season.

But what you've read smells of someones tongue being inside David Moyes.

He cant do any wrong apparently...despite throwing our first game of the season and wasting a lot of money this window.

It also smells of someone who was in awe of Doucoure.

Weird theres been no incomings this week.

A huge gamble.

Look I’m all in the camp wishing Everton could buy 18-21 wonder kids.

The squad/first 11, albeit not inspiring needs more of the “solid, do a job” you refer to.

We can’t fill a bench without two keepers and players who Moyes knows are never going to be good enough Onyango etc.
I can understand that view, I'm just saying that there'd be equally as much fume if we were signing 28-year-olds for £20m+ (as that's what anyone even half-decent costs) from other Premier League clubs to fill the many holes.

It’s true but are they good enough, will they fit a style, will they settle, manage the expectation of our fans, want to live in the NW, want to stay more than a season, have an agent not in another team’s pocket, etc etc.

Remember, there are more than 20 teams in the PL given multi club ownership. That Brighton lad is joining Blue Co, not Chelsea for example which shows how more difficult it is

I'd take Brownhill and Vardy to be honest. Don't like Vardy but he's got that much experience he could probably be effective just jogging around and saving his energy. They might cost more wages than Barry and Dibling but there doesn't seem much doubt they'd contribute more this season

I’m only going by what the manager stated in the press conference mate, he mentioned Europe specifically.

So what are the next level down players we are looking at at the 11th hour?

Dibling > Fellows or Dju
Luiz > Lopy
Tete > Coleman ?

I genuinely have no idea what Everton's recruitment team looks now.

Incredibly baffling comments in the press conference.

Moyes made it appear like there are substantial funds available, just that our top choices want Europe and have rejected us.

Well we've had 2 months to move onto second, third and fourth choices... this is a monumental failure by the club to not bring in anybody on that right hand side.

Then he says he feels like there has been progress this week, then a few minutes later says it doesn't mean we'll actually bring anybody in though.

Madness.
