2025/26 Thierno Barry

Jeez if he has less technical ability than Beto we are in a world of problems

I think he's already shown more technical ability. He's held up the ball once or twice in preseason in his limited opportunities, had that nice turn at the halfway line. Beto couldn't even dream of doing that.

My point was Beto isn't getting any better than he is now, Barry has time on his side.

That is a very big wedge to spend for the future given we have some absolute necessities which we are already 4 days late sorting out.

He will be fine, but the word raw was used for Prince Oumar as soon as he started training. Obviously he is going to have rough edges, but if they have come as a surprise to ANYONE at the club then we still have massive issues with those involved, manager included.

I'm lost here.

Why do you think Barry being raw/work in progress might just be paper nonsense? Have you not got eyes?

He is incredibly raw: looked it on YouTube, looked at it in the U21 Euros, looked it for us in pre-season.

It was completely obvious.
The reports seem to suggest that the club weren't expecting him to be so raw though, which is obviously a slightly different (and far more concerning) issue. Us watching him and thinking he looks a bit raw is one thing, the club spending a load of money on him and then seeing him in training and deciding he's not ready would be a pretty serious situation.

Ok but you said that Beto was closer to the finished article than Barry , which implies that he's got better technical ability.

Anyway one way or the other I'm rapidly getting pretty pissed off with the new Everton.

Same old , same old to me.

I said he was closer to the finished article because he has very little room to improve. He's 27.

We are one of the worst clubs bringing young talent through in recent years. We get them in and then don't even give them a chance so why bother buying them and wasting money if that's the case.
