Summer Transfer Window 2025 Thread

Simon Douglas in the i, says we want 4 players. And we are looking at Ake.

Says 'frictions' between the committee
isn’t the committee kinnear, Hammond and Moyes atm? 2 have worked together in the lower leagues, 1 has PL experience and is solely accountable. They should do as they are told!

And they aren't alone.

Yes all of these teams finished above us last year and/or won a trophy and/or can fill a bench and/or blah, blah, but if you trawled the fan forums of Aston Villa, Brentford, Crystal Palace, Fulham, Newcastle, Tottenham, West Ham, Wolves I'd guess the mood would be the same as here, rightfully frustrated. For that many teams, some of whom are well run Clubs, to be in a similar situation to us suggests that, currently, it is a really tough market to operate in. The blue touch paper will probably get lit early next week as the clock ticks to 1 September when demands start to soften and movement starts to happen.

I'm far from an apologist to Moyes, Kinnear or TFG [our squad is a mess at the moment], but over the past few days, it seems some are fascinated on the next player Forest have signed without accepting that a good few proper Clubs are doing an Everton so far this window.

Some very fair points there. I think there is a lot of disappointment given the amount of work that needs doing and not done to date and reports of disagreement internally.

That would be of most concern to me and if it was correct, it would point to TFG making more changes and back we go to the cycle of instability and upheaval.

I'm hoping we'll do enough over the next week and a bit, and if we do much can be restored.

I have to think though that none of the market/structural problems with transfers are going to be any different in January or next summer and we have been a bit like rabbits in the headlight trying to adapt.

Maybe when the full recruitment team is in place it may be better but I've learned to become very skeptical of a "Jam, tomorrow" perspective as an Evertonian, it just leads to more let-downs.

My overriding impression of this summer is of a recruitment team and owners, that were undercooked and ill-prepared for the scale of the task that faced them.

Look forward to the articles in 5 years time where it turns out the committee couldn’t agree on anything and we’ve missed out on the next Mbappe in favour of some good old PL experience in Ryan Fraser
