Summer Transfer Window 2025 Thread

Listening to the podcast from Bobble.

Transfer Committee can not agree the way forward on targets and how to spend the money we have left. Also can not agree if they want youth or experience.

They both seem pretty positive normally but worry setting in.

The words "can not agree" keeps getting said

they need to tell moyes to pipe down with the experience shouts, he wont be here long so doesn't need to worry they wont have any sell on value

That's an appalling set of circumstances and an indictment on all of them. We've gone from "no money" to "can't agree". The sheer indulgence of it.

I don't think you can have Kinnear deciding who is signed either but he needs to bang heads together very quickly and get that sorted out.

I have to say that I assume Moyes is the issue here. That's my feeling.

Exactly what happens when you let a manager who'll be here for a couple years head up a transfer committee comprised of other people trying to plan for 5+ years.

So we're top of the 'panic' chart because we 'havent got a right hand side' despite still having an objectively better squad than about 4 or 5 clubs (at least) regardless?

Make it make sense..
the reason is simple: our aspirations are higher, and those ambitions have been set by the club itself. Wolves, Burnley, Brentford, even West Ham none of them are moving into a brand-new stadium that has been sold to supporters as the dawn of a new era. None of them have been told to expect “special players for a special stadium.” That’s the standard we were given, and we’re nowhere near it. And yet we went into the very first matchday of the Premier League season without a recognized right winger, right back, or left back. That is completely unacceptable for a club of our size, history, and supposed ambitions.
What’s worse is the position we’ve put ourselves in. Other clubs know we’re desperate, they know we have no leverage, and every day closer to the deadline, our ability to negotiate weakens. People can dress it up as being “prudent” or “not panic buying,” but the reality is that the longer we wait, the fewer options remain and the higher the prices will climb.
That’s the difference between Everton and the clubs you’ve listed: for them scrap to stay up is within their expectations. For us, it’s not just about survival. Well thats what we were led to believe. It’s about matching the ambitions the club itself has told us to believe in. And if we continue to stumble into this season so poorly prepared, it’s hard to argue we’re on a path that reflects those promises.

I concur I think moyes can recruit well but he has always appeared to be very particular in regards to his specific vision for the squad so if that cant be rectified the tactics need to change as the current model is not effective
I think Moyes can recruit well, too. I'm not a fan of his, but he's competent. That's not in question. Right now, I am questioning our "competent professionals" who supposedly run the club. It just strikes me as bizarre to keep hold of Moyes after his excellent rescue act if you do not know and align with how he operates.

Another example of the Friedkins not really being prepared for Everton football reality.

I thought they would have had a plan to appoint a manager who would be aligned with how they prefer to work. Yet, they kept Moyes on...

They really haven't impressed and, no doubt, Moyes will be their fall guy when the time comes...

Dave you wanted Jordan Henderson, sit this one out

They don’t, though.

Burnley have already added a lot of players. For what they are their squad is fine.

Brentford seem to have an ok squad to me. Would love their collection of full backs.

West Ham put out a much better team than we did at the weekend.

Wolves for what they are need one or two more. They have a better striker than us, better midfields and better fullbacks.

Do any of these teams have no right back, and no right midfielder to speak of?

Out of all the premier league teams we’re the ones with the most to do by a distance.
Six IN; in the next 12 days...

OK maybe two.

That makes absolutely no sense.

Every place in the Premiership is worth two million at least.

Giving up a better league placing to try to save money is something only a fool would consider.
Well it's either that or everybody in recruitment is dreadful at their jobs and let us play pre season on the big stage in America, our first game at the new ground and the start of the season with a team that has the balance of a pisshead walking out the pub at 2 in the morning.

I don't get why we re-signed Seamus if he's never fit and in decline as a footballer. If Moyes wants him in the dressing room bring him into the coaching staff.
I agree with this, for sure. Retaining Young, even for the two years that he wanted [or 1 with an option] and transitioning Coleman into the backroom team would have been a sensible play. From a salary perspective, surely neither are looking for mega money at this stage and I doubt Young is on a kings ransom at Ipswich.
