Summer Transfer Window 2025 Thread

Via the medium of David Ornstein, Southampton have been pushing their narrative regarding the Dibling deal into the press.

Essentially stating that Everton have been blindly making small incremental bid increases without knowing an "asking price". Not the case.

Saints want to understandably maximise their return, Everton have a valuation and the benefit of knowing the player wants the move. Saints should and will probably budge this week.

Quite similar to McAtee - City went public with "we want £40m"; Forest knew that wasn't realistic when he had 12 months left on his contract and was on Pep's unwanted list.

Ok. And what if/when they don’t budge?

I don't know who they look at next.

Taking Dibling as an example, this is their best opportunity to get the highest price possible. As time presses on, he gets closer to his contract end and his value decreases. He doesn't play, or just dials it it, his value decreases. There's a small window for them to get top dollar.

I hate the way that the window means certain clubs have to play chicken with their first few games of the season; but as we get closer to the window more players will be agitating for moves. Players who we may have enquired about earlier in the summer may become available, or may consider Everton as an option. Other transfers will affect club's desire or need to sell. Other transfers may make certain players available. This is why so much is done late on in the window. We're digging through the yellow stickered food shelves come deadline day unfortunately because we don't have the draw or the capital to move quickly.

Everything is relative. Bet they pay well for Champ too. Out equiv is 200k pw
But you have too...thinking we will get the top players paying them same or even less than the others just because they want to play for moyes/Everton is for the birds. At the end of the day, players are after the money...

Palace are least have won something, are in Europe and will have plenty of money from the Eze sale.
Just wait until Fatawu signs for Sunderland. Absolutely no excuses there.
Its not so much about getting beaten to a player by palace, its the fact this deal has been there to be done for weeks now and we’ve been sat on our hands. If you want to start competing in the top half of the table you pay the price for the players you want simple as that.

I thought reading the complete lack of news on the transfer thread was bad....then I looked at good old fab's feed and saw all the money being spent while we just twiddle our thumbs. Pretty damn depressing.
