Summer Transfer Window 2025 Thread

Don't think it works like that Mike. Depends what you think our season should look like. I'm happy with a long term plan as the club has been crying out for it for years. No short-term ism is getting us to where we ultimately want to be which is challenging for the 'champions' league places

Tell you what else isn’t getting us to that place, entering a Premier League season with half a squad and no right hand side.

Your reply to Mike also contained exaggerations and assumptions about those who are complaining

This is the most annoying part of the cycle you guys go through every day. The “it will be fine” guys are so sensitive to negativity right now you don’t even see you are doing the same thing

One side assuming the worst based on…well, past Everton and on what they see as more evidence of us currently doing more Everton things, and the others being optimistic just because they choose to.

Let your fellow fans be miserable and pessimistic right now if it’s how they feel. We’ve been a mess for ages and everybody is still here. The new owners might be great but who the hell knows.

I wouldn’t trust Everton as far as I could throw them right now. Hopefully they’ll make me trust them again in the near future. Be amazing to see competency for a year or two. Starting with these next few days would be good.
I'm not though. Mikes been in here doing this all day every day for weeks.

For the most part I ignore the rubbish on here but the stuff I'm seeing today is just ridiculous. Sack the manager, sack the recruitment staff. I understand pessimism but it gets to a point where the things being said are just ludicrous.

For the record I don't think everything is great, feel like I've been pretty clear in what I've posted today that we're in an absolutely awful position and have been all summer. I'm just not going to presume what will happen in the last 2 weeks of the window, especially not to view the worst case scenario as an inevitable reality.

People are entitled to think what they want, just as much as I'm entitled to point out that they're being shortsighted and failing to see a bigger picture.

You've clearly failed to understand what the ternm'long term' means Mike.

How far would relegation set us back in this grand master plan do you reckon? That side that played last night got absolutely bullied and outplayed by one of the promoted sides that everyone banks on failing to reach 30 points. It’s the final 2 weeks of the window and we look a million miles worse than we did when we finished last season.

While we’re at it, where does Jack Grealish for £12m for one season fit into a long term plan?

As it stands we'll almost certainly be further away from that ultimate goal than we were last season. Hopefully there is a plan to rectify that in the next 13 days but the further into this window we get the less likely a coherent plan looks and the more likely we are to see a Lindstrom/Harrison we'll take what's available on loan approach to the window.

P.S. @Noisy noise annoys I'm not suggesting we will literally sign Harrison or Lindstrom, I know nothing gets your juices flowing more than that, I am merely suggesting that the longer the window goes the more likely we are to be left with that type of transfer.

Yup thats the three i can come up with. Maybe Burnley...not sure that makes your point or mine though...i consider being one of worst four or five teams in the league as relegation material...you do not. All good:)
I forgot Burnley, I'd be amazed if they don't come plum last. Hey its all about opinions mate and you're right to have your worries as that's what being a fan is all about as we all ultimately want that Everton winning feeling. I'm just long in the tooth now and have seen how it's easy to get overly pessimistic after a bad start to a season (witnessed plenty of them especially in Moyes first spell)

Sad to say, but I agree!!

You did watch the game last night yeah? It was as bad as it gets for a premier League team.
No it wasn’t, seen much much worse displays even last season. Also when you two of your back four missing and they never played that four at all in pre-season, it was never gonna be easy.
The club have clearly tried to do the business they need, 7 signings and some bids refused, and some rejections. That’s more work than I ever seen Thelwell or Brands even attempt to do.
