Summer Transfer Window 2025 Thread

The reality is, we combined with getting "sensible" and trying to implement a low wage structure system shedding top earners, we had e Pickford on around 120k, Tarks - last year of contract in around 100k, then whatever Branthwaite is now on, then the drop is to around 70k for any of the others.

We also now are haggling over deals prioritising overall cost over time to get a deal done, and walking away from any deal that the seller sticks relatively firmly to evaluation and asking price of.

Sounds great and sounds sensible.

Until you factor in there's another 19 teams in the league that aren't in a secret agreement with us that this is how we will all operate.

Meaning other clubs are paying fees higher than we are willing to do, players and agents realise that clients can get better wage deals elsewhere.

Take fafana - you offer him high enough wages it'd be European football - who cares.

Let's analyse what we can offer a player, zero silverware for twenty odd years, zero being close to it for about ten, no European footy in near on ten years, at least 4 serious relegation escapes in the past 8-9 years, around ten managers in 6-7 seasons, nearly went under financially, sanctioned recently by the league, the oldest manager in the league whose two years away from retirement.

Yea we have a nice stadium, and we have a very long historical league significance. But it matters nothing in truth, what matters is what you can offer players and agents and right now unless it's decent wages we have no advantage and many disadvantages over the majority of the league.

Brownhill is so obvious because it’s staring us in the face and he’s a free agent who instantly improves both our starting XI and our squad as it stands currently, you don’t need to be an esteemed super scout to work that one out. But yes Diarra another obvious one, Ndoye at Forest and Ben Doak too.
And if Brownhill is so obvious who's stopping us buying him? Does Moyes wants him but the recruitment team say no? Hardly. And why is he still a free agent if he's such a no brainer?

This isn’t about spin - it’s about the same people going over board days after the season finished and long before the much talked about July 1st psr break. Now the same people are muttering about relegation AGAIN!

There has to be a little sense displayed above pure emotion/moaning.

Anyway, onwards we go - let’s hope for some excitement

This squad, as it stands will be in a relegation battle.

It’s not logical to say it won’t.

It’s pure emotion to ignore what’s been happening this summer and think all will be fine.

We threw that system out the window last week when we handed grealish 230k a week

Don’t be ridiculous, those are not the only players in world football we could’ve got for those positions. “Name some then bro” is also a totally rubbish argument, as it’s not my job that I’m being paid a handsome salary for. Every other club in the league seems to have managed to address their priority positions apart from us. That’s an Everton problem, not an everyone else problem.
Sadly I've been online for about 30 years now, having been on multiple sports-related discussion boards/communities, and one of the most common threads in all of them is that the bolded comment is consistently one of the biggest wastes of time to engage with. It's almost always about a player or a coach/manager type, and if you actually engage it, it is an absolute certainly that you'll receive some combination of the following two responses:
-"lmao, they're rubbish," or
-"rofl, like they'd come here."

And that's beside the fact that, as you have mentioned, we the supporters in the public discussion, are not being paid millions to devote all our time to unearthing options that the club might actually sign.

Much to early to say we will be in a relegation battle. However the pre-season was a complete write off and yesterdays match has made me think we will struggle at the bottom end of the table again unless we get in some decent players in the positions that are needed.

So you're telling me they've overruled Moyes on it? Do you really believe that? Or rather Moyes himself has said the right hand side is the priority and that's where the focus is

Well if Moyes sees it as a priority and it’s now the 19th August and we still have no right hand side, then yes I’m going to suggest that the recruitment team have failed the manager.
