Summer Transfer Window 2025 Thread

We probably won’t be a team out of position though
Agreed, there’s been some decent strengthening by some teams - most were better than us already tbh
Then factor the potential that not all 3 of the promoted 3 are complete garbage this year and Spurs & United doing better. Doesn't look great for teams like us and West Ham.

Yeah it is embarrassing what's happened to this fanbase. We've had a period of horrible management running the club into the ground, and it's turned us into a bunch of panic-stricken, cry-arsing babies.

You might think that anyone who disagrees with you is happy 'as long as we don't get relegated', but you would be wrong. Its not a binary where everything is either perfect or terrible. I'm not happy with the current squad, but i still have hope that we address it before the end of the window.

Internet is just a miserable place these days tbh. Everyone thinks they know everything. This forum and another non football related forum that I use feel like they're rapidly turning into twitter/reddit where it's just the loudest people with the most extreme opinions dominating conversation in every thread and boring everyone to death.
Great Post. Its like some of the fans have forgotten what damage panic buying and buying any old player who was touted our way by agents did to our club in the Moshiri era. Its clear to me that we've tried for players this window to fill the problem positions but we've lost out on a fair few of them because either the player didn't want to join or the finances of the deal didn't make economic value to us. Now I'd call that prudence which will hold us in good stead going forward if the recruitment people stay patient and work to their set parameters

People are naive and unrealistic? We are a Premier League club that went into their first game with apparently no fit players for THREE positions!
30% of the outfield positions we just decided nah don’t need them. We’re always safe so who needs the first 3 or 6 or 9 points? Not us.
Yeah ofc it's poor to be sacrificing points, but how much responsibility falls at those currently at the club? How much blame has to be laid with previous ownership and board?

There's a reason everyone is calling what we're trying to do 'unprecedented'. It is unprecedented, no one else has put themselves in this position becuase it's 'kin impossible. We have to make 6 or 7 signings that improve our first team, with no European football and a limited budget. We have no leverage in any negotiations because the entire football world knows that we literally don't have a squad of senior players and if we don't make signings we're screwed.

What are you expecting to see us do genuinely? People act like we're tanking negotiations for fun, I dont understand it. We haven't got numbers in at this point because we're saying no to signing players who aren't good enough, and we're taking time to hopefully get in players who are good enough. It's not ideal, but I would rather see us do this than create a team of rubbish players ready for the first game of the season.

Think bigger picture, this isn't our team just for this month this is our team for years to come. If the level of player that we bring into the club this summer is Fellows, James Justin, etc, we are stuck with these players for years. If there's a lesson to be learned from Moshiri era it's to not panic buy sub par players that you're then stuck with for the duration of their contracts.

Haha yeah funnily enough that’s the position we’ve been left in right now isn’t it? Most of our panic buys under Moshiri happened around this precise time in the window. We better have some zingers lined up otherwise this post is not going to age the best.

Yes, i agree. The recruitment team will find it much easier going recruiting for a Championship team with a lovely stadium.

I’m confused how panic buying would relate to bringing in players early (is in time for the first match early idk anymore)?

I would say “panic buying and buying any old player” would be much more likely as the transfer deadline moves closer

Not sure it was your point, but I agree with you...this is the same squad that played quite well end of last season...

Is it, though?

Last season, we actually had a back up left back that has played left back more than once before in his entire life.

We had a right winger that was actually capable of playing on the right wing, which we do not have at the moment.

And as for KDH being an improvement on Doucoure. That may well be the case, or it may not be, but he won't be better than him in the advanced 10 role. Certainly not on last night's showing anyway.
