Summer Transfer Window 2025 Thread

Fair comments, but giving Moyes so much power too, a man who is known to dither, who has had a mostly horrendous transfer record since his first spell with us, and who is prioritising PL experience for our remaining deals is a problem too.

We pandered to him by packing off Thelwell and handing him the keys. Not necessarily anything wrong in doing that longer term, if that’s the strategy the club wishes (although it's not what I would do) but doing it when we had so much to do this summer and putting us even further behind in our planning was monumentally stupid.

Main issue also is Moyes in his own words knows he is here short term, his focus so t be on building a sustainable side, it'll be a short term fix at best - part of the reason he's so annoyed is this. He's had weak squads, or kick of incomings before but this is the first time I've seen him have a meltdown down over it, and I don't think he's pissed at not getting in the likes of Dibling, but more "premier league ready" players.

On short, I don't trust Moyes to bring in players, I also don't trust Hammond

Maybe.

But for fans who've been looking down the barrel for the last half decade it's the right attitude to have.

We can do a lot more with another 4-5 quality additions this season.
If we’re forced into putting that same side out every match I’ve no doubt we’d be in a relegation fight, it was a performance probably worthy of an overreaction as were so easy to play against. Thankfully I don’t think we’ll put out a side as unbalanced as we were yesterday again this season.

I'm not having a conniption like some people on here but I have to say I'm frustrated especially when it was announced Hammond would be involved, he supposedly was a crucial figure in bringing Tanaka to Leeds (who in my mind was the most dominant player on the pitch yesterday) for 3.5 million from Bundesliga 2. I was hoping even if we didn't acquire our main targets by now players who fill the deficiencies at certain positions would be procured for more affordable prices. Once again I comprehend why people are indignant but calling this window a debacle because of one putrid half (which I agree it was ugly) and a controversial call. Things definitely need to materialize on the transfer front

But are players like Anzou and Barry "Premier league ready"?

We had a weaker quality squad last season and ended up 13th like 🤷‍♂️
Did we though? People keep saying this but, with the exception of KDH and Grealish, do we really have anyone that improves our first team or is even an upgrade on the squad players that have left? We might, but I don't think anyone can say that Barry is an upgrade on DCL with any certainty and beyond that we haven't really signed anyone beyond a couple of reserve goalkeepers.
