Summer Transfer Window 2025 Thread

It won't be all that melodramatic if our squad is weaker than it has been in recent years and the promoted teams aren't as gash as they have been over the last couple of years.

I'm not pining for the return of a 50 year old Ashley Young, but if he was present last night then we would have had an actual LB playing LB, and we wouldn't have had to deprive ourselves of Garner in CM. At present, we become utterly screwed just through an injury to Mykolenko, and he's starting to get injuries frequently.

Doucoure was actually capable of pressing as a number 10, something none of our current 'number 10's' are capable of. It makes a difference.
Agreed about Young. Id have binned Coleman.

Doucoure not so sure.

Its been 1 game.

Penny dropped that people aren’t actually “bedwetting” now?

Some people want and pay to see some progress. Not this amateur approach the club have carried on with again this season with player recruitment.
Some of us could see this all happening a mile off….

We were told to clean our sheets.

Hopefully others are now starting to get their head out of the sand

It's 100% on the recruitment team and TFG for appointing them when they aren't up to the job

The manager had to go to a tournament in the US where he could hardly field a team!!
Christ.. it really is weird times when you can't even bring yourself to take the manager to task when he's clearly underperformed in his role 💀

Transfers can take time and injuries are often unavoidable - thats just the reality and a part of the game. That doesnt mean that you arent responsible for your own poor performance as a head coach, for which Moyes et al are fully in control of!

I don't disagree. JOB is Moyes's first-choice RB since taking over, and Keane - like it or not - is the first CB cab off the rank to cover injuries at the moment (to be fair he was fine last night btw).

Those two choices were because Aznou either isn't deemed good/ready enough or is injured. If it's the latter then I guess that's just terrible luck and we roll with it; otherwise we need to get back in the market because we can't risk that kind of reshuffle having to happen again.

There's an argument that KDH could have started in CM and either Grealish at 10 from the start, or McNeil starts and Charly goes central. Personally I don't hate either option, but our manager is David Moyes. That was never going to happen.
Got the feeling in the press conference on Friday that Myko would be good to go, I wonder did he have a late set back which threw things... clutching at straws here because the team looked so ill prepared.
Thought on midfield looked ok against Utd which gives me a little comfort for next week as hopefully Garner will be back in instead of Tim but I agree a quality CM is vitally important and maybe even equally important as a RW.

Still nothing hey?

Thought the recruitment team would be stepping on the gas this week.

Clear to see that if nothing happens today then we will have the same going into the weekend!

Simply not good enough

The manager can always do better and we didn't play well enough

But I find it ridiculous to blame the manager for the loss last night when he was forced into selecting a totally unbalanced team. A team which would be relegated if we have to pick it regularly over the course of a season. You said he should coach them better but that's just not possible when you have no available full backs etc.

The manager hasn't been given what is required to be properly prepared for the new season. It's nothing new, it's a long running trend at Everton. The fingers need to be pointed at those higher up in the club who have let down another manager.

Mate for starters even I could've literally picked an XI and a setup last night myself that wouldnt have had people saying 'what on earth is the plan here?' like they were doing at 6.45 last night. Even the Sky presenters were confused.. and then Moyes himself gave off the vibe pre game that we were winging it? what sort of message does that put out about your level of coaching & preparation for a Premier League game??
