Summer Transfer Window 2025 Thread

Might be a blessing in disguise that result.
If they didn’t sense the urgency before, they should now.
We need players badly.

Part of me thinks Moyes picked that line up to make exactly that point

He did some thing similar years ago when bill was promising him signings etc and wasn’t delivering … benfica away … a young Coleman playing LB and we got pumped 5-0 I think from memory

If any manager in world football does or even thinks stuff like that then they should be sacked on the spot.

What other line up could he have picked to make any other point??

That was it. That was the best team we could have put out after three-four months of transfer windows and a full preseason.

If you think that Moyes is sandbagging to “make a point” that is delusional. We are that bad. Moyes will know we don’t have the headroom to deliberately throw points away as every single point we can get may be needed at the end of the season.

We lost about half a squad of players after last season.
Had monthes to get ready for it.
Up to now we have brought in Grealish and Dewsbury hall who can go into the side.
Others just bodies for the goalkeepr spots more than likely do well to get 30 games between them in thier Everton.
A couple of young players not ready yet.
Why when we need players for now?
Its shocking how bad this has been a.
After the farce of the USA its contining into the season.
Honestly it early days but the recruitment team look like a bunch of clowns at the moment
Not up to the job.

No, I wouldn't.

Why on earth would I complain about a proven winner like Xhaka?

You're not making sense.
If he’s just talking about the deal itself then it’s fair. It’s a hell of a lot of money invested into a player soon to be 33.

As a player he’d still walk into our side, he’s a good footballer, but there’s an array of centre midfielders that’d walk into our side yesterday that aren’t coming to the end of their career and on big wages.

It’s sad that our recruitment has been so lacklustre that some people in the thread are asking why aren’t we going for Xhaka/Vardy/Brownhill, when in an ideal world they shouldn’t really even be considerations.

More signings wont sort out performances like last night by the way - only coaching and proper preparation does that. You can buy all the wingers and fullbacks you want....
I disagree. Having signings that can slot into natural positions on the pitch will help loads because they understand where to be positionally on the pitch far more than Alcaraz will at RW or Garner/JOB will at LB and RB.

There are lots of things that were wrong last night that require better coaching

The fact the manager had no available full backs is clearly not one of those things. It's almost impossible to win PL matches in that position.
Yet we could've easily won last night with those players, but instead they laboured badly and barely had an idea of what they were supposed to be doing most of the time.

Thats just poor preparation on the training ground, simple as.

My opinion is the team we fielded is not good enough to survive in this league. It won't win many football matches. Absolutely no balance and no pace and power.
