Summer Transfer Window 2025 Thread

There's still work to be tended to on the squad especially the right side but for people say we hadn't made improvements is wacky to me, Barry upgrade over DCL , DCL wasn't playing most games due to fitness and wasn't scoring when he did, dewsberry hall is upgrade over Doucoure overall especially when it comes to technical ability, jack graelish bolsters our attacking potency along with dewsberry hall and the permanent signing of Alcarez. I get its frustrating but there's a clear distinction between the previous regimes. Honestly just becomes tedious these discussions as the outrage factories burn their vitriol perpetually so I'm just going to wait till the end of the window to revisit this conversation , if the doom-mongers are correct I'll concede but won't know until then

I think Moyes has a tendency where he's overly candid, wearing his heart on his sleeve , which admirable, also does himself a disservice in this cutthroat game of business where your comments can betray your intent and leave you vulnerable
Moyes can do it now because he's an experienced manager, he wouldn't have done it had he no job security, he wouldn't be so candid 20 years ago when he first came to Everton... He would never dream of doing this in the BK era.

Kiwior - Arsenal
Trincao - Sporting
Lewis - City
Dibling - Southampton

All linked today across the likes of give me sport, football insider etc.

Lewis and Dibling would turn the window into a success.

So it's obvious Rico Lewis is also available — a brilliant player. Are we gonna just sit back and watch Forest sweep up all City's talent ffs?
We'd have to buy and where would you play him?
RB moving into midfield as an additional attacker in Pep's system is not the same as doing a lot of defending in our system which he really isn't very good at imo

If Southampton valued Dibling at £50mil and we initially offered £27mil.

Now City have turned down Forests £30mil and probably value Lewis at £40mil.

I would expect Moyes to wait a few days and then Hammond to make a bid of £23mil.

He was brilliant at right back at the weekend, he's really young and talented and if we improve, he wouldn't need to be a defence-only defender such as Mykolenko.

There was a clear direction.... and then they tossed in Dewsbury Hall and Grealish and suddenly it is a bit harder to see what the direction is again.

For me it is fair to have real concerns about the state of the right side. The options at right wing are Ndiaye or Grealish out of position, McNeil who hasn't played there a lot and has real physical limitations as a wide player, and maybe Alcaraz or Dewsbury-Hall as a player who drifts around a bit. Two of those three styles of play require real attacking support from fullback. It just isn't going to threaten teams enough to have someone like O'Brien who just doesn't make them respect the width. And then when looking at actual RB options it's paper thin. O'Brien can do it even if he stylistically isn't ideal, but then it is nothing and O'Brien may be needed at CB. After that it's Patterson who is League One level maybe and well past it and unlikely to stay fit Seamus.

So if someone is sitting here saying they like the signings but can't understand the strategy all the way I do think that's fair. We've added good players mostly. Have we done it in a way that makes best use of the money we have available? Have we addressed all of the pressing needs? For me no and no which might create problems now and down the road even if the players are pretty good.

I mentioned him yesterday and was told by at least three different posters that he was rubbish and not good enough, despite his age and already immense trophy haul.

I have no idea who they would prefer to sign instead. They also seemed clueless.

To be fair to them, he's had a few issues defensively. However, under Moyes and with Lewis' game intelligence I'd expect him to improve enormously.

So much so, that I think RB or even DM could be suitable roles for him. Not the biggest but hes an clever terrier.

Lewis is not physically built for Premier League football, his presence in City’s team last season was a big reason for their downturn. Teams targeted his area of the pitch and physically bullied him, he’d be exposed badly in a team that doesn’t have 70% of the ball every game. Clearly has technical ability but is slow and weak, would suit the Spanish league.
