So we had a 20% sell on for Broadhead, Chelsea a 25% sell on for Hutchinson, so that seems to be the norm. Why is everyone up in arms about Southampton asking 20% sell on for their prized asset?

Sell on clauses are fine when you are talking about smaller fees, not when you are already paying about 45 million pound or more for a young unproven lad. He's not Neymar.

They were sold for low fees so a profit share makes sense. What doesn't make sense is a really high initial fee and a profit share.

Ipswich paid 22.5m for Hutchison mate - not exactly a low fee given he was 19 with hardly any top level games - if any.

Because of the prices they were sold for. Broadhead was sold for less then a million and Hutchinson was sold for less then £20m.

You either front load the deal or back load it you cant have it both ways

It was around £19m and he'd spent a season there on loan helping them get promoted in the championship scoring 10 goals and 5 assists in 20 starts and playing 2180 minutes overall.

Thats a relatively low fee for the lad imo.

Get all that but Moyes came in Feb, Thellwell left, and the new recruitment team isn’t fully in place yet. Feels like we’ve started afresh on who we are targeting and getting the obvious ones in this window (RW and obvious challenge)

I’d expect next summers window to be the one that throws up more surprise, high value signings and will judge the set up on how they do then

The thing is, this is a different regime. Thelwell would probably have got us fellows, not knocking Thelwell because I thought he did a good job in difficult circumstances. But this summer is totally different summer, we’ve tried fur a few from abroad. The first RW we wanted went to juventus for 30mil
We bid 31 for forfana, we could probably get him for 35mil but he said no
Kubo is 60mil

So we unfortunately have been backed into a corner. We’ve just seen Hutchinson go for 37mil
Fatawu apparently Is going to be the same. I’ve been saying all summer to get good players this summer, we will probably have to over pay
We just have to get Dibling now we have no choice
