Summer Transfer Window 2025 Thread

Completely agree with all this. Drives me mad that we’ve ultimately ended up doing our transfer window in reverse - starting by tackling low (and in some cases no) priority needs and now desperately racing against time to recruit our high priority ones.

Years after we messed up a window of opportunity by ending it with three number tens, no wingers and little pace in the team, it’s crazy that we might do it again. Moyesy now has a couple of weeks to prove all doubters wrong and sign the players our season actually depends on - a fast and goal scoring right winger who will stretch the opposition and give us an outlet on that side of the pitch, a natural right back who can be relied on, and a strong number six who’s not there to push up or chase, but to screen the defence and link the team together.

I really really hope he does it because it’s all on him. He desperately wanted to be the top guy in our transfer set up - and he got it. Deliver Dave!
It was a massive mistake by TFG to go all in on Moyes. This window has been very poor. Thelwell should’ve been kept on.

Probably not, though still at Monaco and dodgy links a few weeks ago so i added him in.

For me, i only want Dibling at RW.

Perhaps, but where does he regularly start for United in Amorims system? Right back?

No, they are the ones your father dreams of being bummed by.
Man U play 343 Zat so he plays as a right sided forward

Yeah - whether you were pro or anti-Thelwell, it absolutely made sense to keep him on for a year to plan for and execute this massive window, rather than get a new team who were on gardening leave for it. I think Moyesy has been undermined by his own hubris - so desperately wanting to be in charge of recruitment himself. But football’s changed.

Yeah and the amazing thing to me is that he didn’t seem to want Alcaraz, doesn’t seem that impressed by Barry and doesn’t seem to think Aznou is anywhere near ready. Odd, given that he’s got the keys to recruitment that he’s craved for years.

This is the impression I have when Moyes has been asked about them.

Yet, he's the one of the 3 recruitment team members who is seemingly picking out players.

Its not the CEO or Hammond.

Precisely.

Absolutely - and that recruitment team is definitely not a democracy, he’s at the top.

I do wonder given the amount spent ( as listed above ) whether Dibling would be our final purchase?
£150m has frequently been mooted as our spending limit for this round.
We would still have less expensive loan slots to use of course.

If we had £150mil to spend then the spending pattern seeme bizarre to me.

It all points to Moyes going for signings to aim for Europe while neglecting the weaker areas that would solidify the group.

IMO JOB is a better right back than centre back and will play there by default. My suspicion is Moyes agrees. Lots of CBs get converted to full backs these days. He is only 'out of position' in so far as his FIFA card still calls him a Centre Back.

What is McNeils position? Played LW, RW and 10 across his career. I suppose you might say his best position is LW, but he can do a job across the lot. He isn't starting for us anyway so its a moot point, he'll come off the bench and offer competition across the front line

And I would agree that on paper we didn't need Grealish (in so far as we need a natural RW) however I would argue that we needed better quality in that forward line, either winger or 10. McNeil, as much as I like him, is not good enough to be an Everton player in the long run.

We'll still get a natural RW (hopefully left footed) anyway but, if we assume that it's the most important target in the window, and will be our record transfer, I'm fine if it takes until the 11th hour to complete. Ndiyae will play out there in the meantime

If were planning to use O'Brien at right back then this would place Michael Keane as our 3rd choice centre back.

Also, as you (correctly) point out, we also have McNeil as a rotation option and still have no right winger, nor a right sided (or DM) upgrade at CM

Theyve signed Mbuemo so I dont think he'll get much game time

He'll be playing or coming off the bench every game Zat as he's an Amorim favourite

It's a joke the way that so many people here are freaking out.

Club finally did what the same people have been begging them to do for years, by releasing a whole load of squad players. Did they really think that rebuilding the team in one transfer window would be easy ?

We know that Moyes is still 100% committed to bringing players in.

We know that we still have scope to bring in loan players. Perhaps that's why we've not been bidding for any RBs, because we're waiting on loan targets to become available.

Once we nail a quality RW, and believe me we will, the mood music here will start to change.
