Summer Transfer Window 2025 Thread

Come on Mike, this isn't the noughties.

Players can perform well into their 30s now and the market has moved on. Don't make me do it but I will happily find umpteen transfers of £10m plus for 30 year olds

I never said they don’t happen, I just said we shouldn’t be doing it  it would be bad business.

No offence to Grealish but I can’t see him being a player that plays late into his 30’s.

He’s a definite upgrade on the backup options we have and personally I’d argue he’s not a downgrade on James Garner.
Mate evidently I think a lot of your stance just ultimately boils down to not rating Garner or indeed Tim Iroegbunam - which is entirely subjective but is, of course, your opinion.

Regardless of the current situation - with over two weeks of the window still to go, we're already clearly in better shape than we have been for a long while with the signings we've made thus far. It doesnt have to be all doom & gloom because we're yet to secure an out-and-out RW or loaned a DM. This summer, addressing all of our needs in one go would've always been considered particularly exceptional and probably a tad unrealistic if we're being honest here..

The hyperbole suggesting the opposite is exhausting.

Liverpool starting 11 almost 700m. In what world does anyone think it's a level completion?

And not that it matters roo much, but not a single British player in the starting 11. I prefer out model of mixing it up as we have a good core of British players.amongst pur overseas players..... no not you Micky K though 🤣

NOBODY has suggested we do that, that’s a scenario that’s been made up by the ostrich’s who think waiting until the end of the window means we get a better quality of player. It doesn’t and has historically never meant that for us or anyone else.
Well yes they have actually. These threads are littered with shouts from the quantity over quality brigade.

Many of our targets - we kinda all know who they are - have either stated they aren't interested (yet) or are holding out for better offers. So if we don't hold out for them, as window after window has shown that's what happens, who should we have already bought instead?

Well by definition it must be less good, less wanted players. Down the food chain. Ale house.
