I think they are trying to reset their reputation in the market as well mate "as tough negotiators" under a new regime.

Last thing they will want will be to be seen to be spanked about by Southamptn.

This is as much a PR battle for both clubs as it is agreeing a fee and doing a deal in my opinion.
