Summer Transfer Window 2025 Thread

Moyes presser today will lead to melt down with Branthwaite and Mykolenko out.

I doubt we'll be making any signings over the next few days and just concentrate on Leeds.

Next week, we have to make big decisions FAST and bring in a right back and right winger.
Why would the transfer team be concentrating on Leeds. Nothing to do with match preparation.

Yes team, it’s not just one guy!

Brentford spending £42m on Outtara from Bournemouth, Elanga £55m, Hutchison £35m, Ndoye £35m, thats the cost of the market just now.
You get nothing for £25m.

Yup and I hope the people in charge of making deals and the owners are accepting of the reality not thinking that we can ignore it and still sign players we want.

Given aside from the newly promoted teams we had by far the most need to bring players in, then it's kinda slightly worrying that our major addition is Grealish - who may be tremendous I hope, but who is a one year stop gap most likely.

We needed to strengthen the squad for the next years this window and show some succession planning on certain areas. Grealish - we needed the guy who'll take over in, Gueye will be 37 next year - we should be bringing in his replacement now. Same arguably at CB, Tarks is 34 next season, Keanes again a stop gap - we should have been bringing in a younger CB who can transition into the role over time.

No doubt. Let's be honest though if Jacob Ramsey is £43M then the market has gone. To that end KDH, for a "mere" £25M seems decent despite that guy saying you get nowt for that price. Add in Ndiaye and JOB too and his point is flawed.
Its insane how it's gone. We need to really ramp up our scouting network and start to concentrate on bringing in youth.

The short term gaps haven't been filled and the long term gaps definitely haven't been filled

Miles off where we should be at this stage, regardless of there being 2 weeks to go of The window.

First player they tried to get in was a right back, seems like he was the only right back on the list.

I think KDH and Grealish will be good signings but we are still miles short of where we need to be in multiple departments

You don't domestically but there is better value to be had in Europe. Not to the degree there once was, but better nonetheless.

I don't think that Moyes is against this in principle, but he draws a distinction between players that he can start vs. those that can be eased in more gradually. It would seem he doesn't think we can afford the luxury of more of the latter.

I think there is scope to be a bit bolder and imaginative when you look at the paucity of our options on the right.

That policy is something that will have to evolve as we get a more competitive squad in time as the current system is set up purely for the benefit of the Sky 6.

The lack of quality coming up will be an asset to them, but similar to Brentford (maybe more so, in fact) they have stripped away some real talent.

Kepa was a big asset to them last season, and he chose not to commit; they've let Zabarnyi, Huijsen and Kerkez go - 3 out of 4 of their defenders.

The likelihood of getting replacements as good as any of those singularly will be difficult, let alone collectively, so I think they will ship goals this year.

Obviously, Iraola is a good manager, and they have decent attacking options, so they will be fine compared to those coming up, but it'll be more difficult.

I wonder how long Iraola will stay if they keep allowing the squad to be stripped. As a whole, I think this could be a mad transitional year for some teams!

Personally think their model works perfectly for clubs like them and Brentford, every year people lump those teams into a relegation battle and yet every year they are well clear and comfortable. Suspect all of the replacements for those players and been meticulously scouted years in advance with the plan of selling this year. Next year they’ll probably bring in another £150m for Semenyo, Kluivert, Scott etc and bring in the next batch of replacements. I don’t think Bournemouth will be in any trouble for the foreseeable future.

Yeah although the latter two both bought from abroad and neither had premier League experience.

Nothing now will be done until the last few days of the window when the cub will be looking to do desperate deals for bargain basement signings and loans.

How did an unprecedented summer end up with this failure?

New owners, new stadium, new opportunity. Wasted.

I think you'd have to default to that view yes but a lot of clubs still looking to do a lot of business. Clubs outside the Top 6/7 have been more restricted then usual even.

If the view is that we need another 4 in then we can't leave that to the final day. That would just be indicative of whatever "plans' they had bring thrown out of the window, pardon the pun.

Unfortunately I think it's almost guaranteed that we'll end up short somewhere but there can be no excuses if we fail to add at RW,RB, and CM.

I'd be happy if we got those three positions filled. A striker on loan perhaps if at all.

I'm wary that they can get another 4 in though.

I’m not sure if this has been mentioned it might have done, but I reckon it may be best to judge the window when it closes.
