Summer Transfer Window 2025 Thread

What gets me is what’s happened to Moyes much vaunted ability to pluck unknowns out of the lower leagues / abroad for peanuts etc?

tbf to him, the cream of his previous crop, the Cahills, Artetas, Fellanis, Baines Pinaars etc were all CL quality imo, do they not exist anymore, has moyes got a bit lazy / conscious he’s only got 2 years left?……. Barry is possibly a Fellani equivalent in that he wasn’t cheap cheap but will hopefully at least double in value, but you would think there are sub £20m players out there waiting for the opportunities to shine.
Difference is they cost more or everyone knows about them now, I do agree though a few rough gems would be welcome

On GOOGLE?!
I asked Google AI

"Kubo strong transfer rumour to Everton"

which scanned 9 current sites and came up with this:

Yes, there have been strong rumours linking Real Sociedad winger Takefusa Kubo with a potential move to Everton during the summer 2025 transfer window. Everton are looking to bolster their attacking options, especially on the right wing, after the loan departures of Jack Harrison and Jesper Lindstrom.
Here's a breakdown of the situation:
Everton's Interest: Everton have reportedly made contact with Real Sociedad and Kubo's agents regarding a potential move. They are considering submitting a bid. The club is also interested in Malick Fofana and others.
Kubo's Interest: Kubo is reportedly open to a new challenge and is believed to be interested in a Premier League move. However, he has also claimed he hasn't heard anything concrete about his future.
Real Sociedad's Stance: Sociedad wants to keep the 24-year-old Japanese international, who is under contract until 2029. While his release clause is reportedly around £50m, ToffeeWeb claims they may be willing to consider offers in the region of £34.6m. Real Madrid holds a 50% sell-on clause from his transfer to Sociedad in 2022.
Other Interest: Kubo is also attracting interest from other Premier League clubs, as well as teams in La Liga and the Bundesliga. Napoli are also reportedly assessing their options with Kubo on their radar.
Takefusa Kubo's La Liga stats (2024/25 season)
Statistic Value
Appearances 36
Starts 27
Goals 5

Context:
Everton are looking to improve their attacking output for the upcoming season, particularly on the right flank. They recently signed Jack Grealish, and the potential pairing of Kubo with Grealish is seen as a way to create a dynamic and technical attacking threat different from other Premier League teams. Kubo has a good scoring record in La Liga and European competitions. His age and experience suggest long-term value, but the cost and competition for his signature remain significant hurdles for Everton.

Strong rumours of a new big bid for kubo all over google
No idea if legit

This made me lol. Reminds me of my mum rest her soul.

She had an iPad at the age of 72 and people kept setting her up with email addresses and shortcuts.

She had a short cut to google on the desktop even though she had no idea what it was.

I can get on google, not a problem she’d say. What did mum? Well to get on google

Would everyone have felt better if we'd signed Omari Hutchinson for £35m in July?
No. Because that would have prevented any opportunity to sign Dibling.
Dibling is a far better player and thus the club are right to wait right up until the last minute to conduct their business.

They've identified a target, they know there is a deal to be had and that the player wants the move; Everton are doing everything correctly.

You go early on someone down the list, you then regret when you miss out on your top choice.

Delap - we had to move early as Ipswich had given him permission to talk to clubs to agree a potential move ahead of the World Club Cup.
Tete - we obviously knew there was a contract offer on the table from Fulham, so there was a brief opportunity to offer terms.

Difference is they cost more or everyone knows about them now, I do agree though a few rough gems would be welcome
Yep. The 'rough gems' from the Championship cost £15m/£20m and are players like Ebe Eze, Adam Wharton, Michael Olise, Tom Fellows, Hayden Hackney etc.

There's no £1m bargains to be had in football these days. We need to stop living in 2005 and understand where the market is.
