What does that even mean?

You never heard of SMART goals. Let’s put it simple, if I go on a night out and il trying to pull the Margot Robbie’s of this world and inevitably go home with nothing other than a kebab. It’s not the Margot Robbie’s fault I didn’t pull - it’s mine for wasting my time on someone I was never going to be able to pull

OK, to expand on that analogy then, it's more likely that we're going after Margot Robbie, knowing full well that there's always a Jack Harrison that nobody wants to go home with at 3am.

I'm quite happy that we're not doing what you're suggesting and getting a taxi back from Wetherspoon with Harrison at 8pm before we've tried a few nicer bars out.

To be honest I have no idea what our recruitment team were doing before the 1st July because it seems to way hadn’t even cobbled together a list of transfer targets or a semblance of a plan. I have no idea why we’re going into the season with nobody that can play on the right wing, and STILL no right back.

What are you talking about? We know there was conversation between us and Grealish in May, we were linked with Tete in June, we were pursuing Delap in May, we bought Barry early July. We were obviously interested in Cherki (but were told no), made moves for Doak but priced out.

Fofana has seemingly told us to wait, as has Luiz. That's the reason we are waiting until late in the window. The profile of player we want, isn't interested in us as a first option. I'm fairly sure we could easily get someone like Harrison back, but you'd lose your mind at that and it doesn't progress us as a club.

You seem to be of the mind that we just choose a player, pop along to the club, offer our valuation of the player and they suddenly become ours - rather than it being a very expensive negotiation with a variety of different factors to navigate.

Exactly! Yes, we might be his second or third choice, but at least we want him! I think it'll happen eventually..I also think that's why we haven't just jumped for other random right wingers!
