Summer Transfer Window 2025 Thread

Have to disagree

We don't have a senior right wide player at the club and we definitely don't have a top flight level right back if JOB moves inside to centre back.

Perhaps now the club will pull their finger out and sign a player for the position that was ALWAYS the most crucial one needing to be filled?

The window hasn't shut yet
I'm aware...

I meant we're very quick to get "down" after a "high".

Albeit one which has taken ages to work it's magic.

So much so, you've already dropped the next "rumour", coz it's not "signing" and now feeling thoroughly empty, before chewing your face off (on GOT) waiting for the next one... Meanwhile, telling everyone who's in the vicinity "it was better back in the day and that they're chatting wham, but you love them".

So, someone told me anyway.

Til the club window shuts. Enjoy the ride. All of it.

The weekly grind will soon be upon us.

I dunno, mate. He is good 1v1 and he is quick, but offers very little going forward. Also, for a lot of the goals we conceded in the 2nd half of last season, he got sucked and was too narrow a lot, which is very common for a CB playing as a fullback.

He should be injury / suspension cover at right back, this window will be tinged with disappointment for me if he is our starting right back from now until Jan.
As I said I agree with you in terms of his game going forwards, he's dangerous in the box but looks uncomfortable on the ball out wide.

Personally not worried at all from a defensive point of view though. Was thrown into an unfamiliar position for him last season and thought he did very well. Actually prefer him at rb to Myko at lb if I'm being completely honest.

Definitely do still want us to sign a natural right back, and obviously the amount of time we've needed one is massively frustrating. I just think we have 3 right backs on the books currently, if you're counting Jake as one. Yes 2 of those are not good enough for the standards we are trying to hit but we have 0 right wingers and we have 1 number 6 who is 35 years old.

I think really we need signings in all 3 positions, but I would feel a lot less worried going into the season having not signed at right back, as opposed to if we didn't bring in a right winger ( or 2 ) and a 6

All well and good being “clever” in the market but this sort of thing was always possible. Branthwaite hasn’t got the best injury record as it is so it baffles me how a right back hasn’t been signed yet regardless of today’s news.
